Im gonna rewatch the series this weekend so I can go watch the new one.
doing it machete order
Machete Order. There is one other option, suitable for old and new viewers alike, known as Machete Order. Popularized by blogger Rod Hilton, Machete Order involves watching the original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back first, then watching the prequels before finishing it all off with Return of the Jedi (so that’s 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6). This introduces you to the universe through the original trilogy, but cuts it off after the cliffhanger in Empire Strikes Back—at which point you “flash back” to the prequels to see how Darth Vader came to be Darth Vader, before returning to the final chapter of the original trilogy for a nice, neat ending.

Been watching the de-specialized version of the original trilogy, after completing the de-cheesed prequel trilogy. So excited for my showing tomorrow evening!
Just finished watching it in Pitt Meadows... they were the only theatre that still had AVX seats for tonight when I bought my tickets.
Such a great movie IMO, brought back so many feels and memories of watching the original 3 movies with my dad when I was a little kid. If this is any indication of the rest of the trilogy, it's going to be a fun ride, already miles ahead of episodes I-III.

There were many many phenomenal moments in the movie, but there were also some very weak points, they were outnumbered by the awesome moments though.
The movie felt very rushed to be honest, especially the second half, and more so near the ending... They really wanted to cram a lot into it, it felt like the movie could be split into two or three on its own just to flesh everything out.
Overall the movie felt like a copy of 'A New Hope' but that's not a bad thing
Visiting my sister in Langley had no problem getting a ticket for the 10:40 showing. The theater was not full. The movie was awesome. Just what the franchise needed.

It's cuz they added showings/theatres in this last week
one thing that really bothers me about the film, and it's a spoiler so don't look if, you know... you haven't seen it
Spoiler!
LIKE SERIOUSLY MAJOR FUCKING SPOILER
Spoiler!
it has to do with Han Solo's death... it was so undramatic and Chewy didn't seem to give a damn except to fire off 1 shot and continue with the mission... and later on when they return to base he just walks past Leia like 'i dont know you bitch...' and the person to have that hug-fest over Han is Rey and Leia? wtf???? it's as if Chewy and Han weren't part of the movie and Han was just a random stormtrooper that died...
I was expecting Chewy to rig a pulley with his crossbow and head down that shaft to look for Hans body to bring back to Leia, or give him a proper burial, or to check if maybe he survived... like Luke when he lost his arm and fell down that giant shaft..
it really didn't do Han justice nor Han and Chewy's relationship

Maybe I'm reading way too much into the movie. But when Kylo Ren interrogates her using the force, I got a feeling, based on Rey's behaviour for the rest of the movie, that she, as a consequence of Kylo Ren jedi-minding her, regained her memory. I also got a feeling, that when Leia meets Rey, Leia seems like she's noticing something. Ergo, my theory is: Leia feels the force when she meets Rey and deduces that Rey is Luke's daughter. Rey regains her memory during the interrogation, hence how she screams at Kylo Ren that he'll never be as powerful as Vader. Also why she's so upset when Han dies, and why she hugs Leia upon her return. When Rey finally climbs up all the steps and sees Luke, it also felt like they knew who each other was already, no surprised expressions or anything. I think Episode VIII will open with the reveal that Rey has her memory back and Luke is her dad

yeah.
Spoiler!
in the EU books, chewy died. and people were pissed then too. I can see that chewy was pro enough to finish the mission, but yeah i expected him and leia to share a moment. Also, you're telling me Han's never fired Chewy's bowcaster in 40 years? ever?

a slight pet peeve, i guess i'm nitpicking here, is
Spoiler!
how are the resistance going on a bombing mission and using only x-wings where are the y-wings??? (the bombers)

Y wings were old and slow at ANH. Add 20 years? likely outclassed by anything new. The even the new Xs are new variants, T-70 vs the T-65 of the originals. I'm glad they kept that the same from the EU, where the X's really did become the standard multirole fighter. Also, you show anyone an x wing nowadays, Star wars. Y wing? you need to be older or know sci-fi to recognize it.
