Vancouver hotels Any recommendations for hotels to impress a girl ? My girlfriend's whole extended family is staying at her parents cramped home and I just want to do a minor staycation while they are still here. I checked previous threads but the most recent one was 2010 and Opus was the most recommended. Any input would be awesome ! |
I would suggest the pan pacific |
impress your gf? by how much are you wantin to impress? If you a baller then Shangri-La? |
Sutton place Vancouver is nice. They have a sale right now too, I think its 35% off |
seriously, you aren't impressing anyone. Pan Pacific, Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Waterfront all have Harbour view The Westin Grand in Coal Harbour. Shangri-La Hotel, The Sutton Place are ballin' and close by Robson St. |

Hotel Georgia or Fairmont Hotel Vancouver are impressive buildings. |
Best hotel in Vancouver for suites probably be hotel georgia, Bentley House Car, Boutique hotel service. Hotel Vancouver is nothing special, gold floor is okay, but other than that its meh, service is blah, I had a bad experience with their concierge messing up one of my reservations, and their house car is never available when I want a ride somewhere. Pac Rim has a pretentious crowd, good location and decent view, the poolside suites are decent. My Favorite luxury hotel in Vancouver is the Four Seasons, their service level is impeccable, book thru a FSPP agent (usually free service) for guaranteed upgrade, resort credit and other amenities, you will usually get welcome gifts and the front desk staff will expect your arrival and give you some extra attention when you arrive. (you will feel like a VIP). I've never stayed at the Shangri-la so I cannot comment on that. |
are the in-laws staying until Feb 15? and you want to plan a mini stay cation for Feb 14 weekend? The Sutton usually has a lover's package. one of the packages includes a Maserati and diamonds... sure to impress her. |
The Sutton Place is *always* on Hotwire, it's a 5-star property and it's usually around $90-$120 per night at this time of year... but, to be honest, both times I've stayed there I wasn't that impressed. Small, old rooms and nothing is included in the room rate (internet $15+ per day, parking $40+, etc). Hotel Vancouver sucks, all 3 of the other Fairmont properties in the city are much nicer. I love the Fairmont Airport, and the Waterfront is a top-notch hotel as well... I'm sure the new Pac Rim is incredible, although I've never stayed there myself. Hotel Georgia is the city's finest, according to travel snobs. Never stayed there myself, although both the Four Seasons is right across the road and is one of the city's best hotels IMO. For something a bit more affordable, I also like the Metropolitan Hotel, the Delta Suites on Georgia, and the Renaissance Harbourside. All of them are your typical 4-star, modern business hotels with excellent service and nice rooms. Not a fan of Starwood hotels as a general rule, although I've got friends who always stay at the Westin Bayshore... I stayed there a few months ago and it was very average. Avoid the Holiday Inn downtown at all costs. Absolutely horrific. Outside the downtown area, I like the River Rock (free parking, Canada Line access, big rooms, etc) and the Pinnacle at the Pier in North Van (seabus access, quieter, etc). Oh, and for comparing prices, nothing beats Trivago. |
The Loden Hotel... Downtown Vancouver Hotel, Boutique Vancouver Hotel | The Loden Its a Boutique hotel, but is VERY impressive |

It isn't which hotel you stay at, it's how much you spend on the room. Spoiler! |
