with the new roof rails...and added the 'ACURA' decal... I don't know why they don't slap it on the newer models anymore...felt that the other side was naked/blank without a decal of sorts.

Spoiler!
because it's redundant with the centred logo decal...it's not uncommon for people to debadge the Acura decal that you just put on.

Both the tires (DuraTracs and BFG KO2's) are mountain snowflake rated.

That means nothing. A dedicated winter is 1000x better than any all season or all terrain tire that just so happens to have a snow flake on it. Take it from someone who works in a tire shop.

My 215/35/18 pirelli P zero nero had a snowflake on it. I'm not sure what an italian snowstorm looks like, but they sure as shit weren't cut out for any snow I've seen.

^ a snowflake, or the mountain/snowflake symbol?

Dedicated winter > Mountain/Snowflake all seasons > M+S all seasons. That said both my current Duratracs and previous KO's never had any problems no matter where I've taken them, so personally I wouldn't bother with dedicated winters on a truck/SUV unless you drive through some really nasty stuff on the regular.

well... this being my 14th acura...its the first one to not have the actual lettering on the side and I'm just accustomed to seeing it. Call me old, school but yah, all 2013+ models in north america they have decided to not bother with it.

Guys, good suggestions all around. I thought about an A/T tire but where I am you would want to run full-on winter tires because the highways don't necessarily get plowed that well, and it gets to -20c on the regular. The A/T tires don't really flex well at those temperatures... And it gets nasty pretty regularly around here. The A/T tires are probably good at getting going in snow, or even deep snow, but I need something that can also turn and stop really well in winter weather/icy roads. My local friends don't recommend running BFG K/O2s or even studded Duratracs for winter, it's not good enough.

My house is also on a very steep hill, and it gets very icy after a freeze/thaw cycle in the winter. You can probably see the reflection of the fire hall badge on the truck, I'm a volunteer firefighter. I need to get down to the fire hall as quickly as possible at like 2AM or 3AM in the morning when the road hasn't necessarily been sanded/salted - while being in complete or mostly in control.

Here are some pictures of my previous vehicle (Subaru Forester XT) in the winter. That had Nokian Hakkapelliitaa R2 SUV winter tires - the best studless tires available.
