Just wanna give a huge thanks to hud 91gt for helping me flare a brake line. Great guy who has an amazing eastwood flaring tool that made short work of the flare I needed. Thanks again :)

Not so random, but anyone in Burnaby have a torque wrench I can borrow? Had spacers sitting in my trunk for a month now but no wrench to slap them on

dn53 06-04-2016 12:38 PM

You know what, i just discovered the fifth gear and brake thing last night shortly after sending that message. I googled it :lol doing the head on it but silly me already had everything out before loosening the crank

lilaznviper 06-04-2016 02:20 PM

I have a thin 32mm wrench that's useful for undoing the viscous fan clutch on BMWs.

You may need a separate fan clutch holder tool too though, or you might be able to just whack the wrench with a mallet and give the nut enough of an impact to loosen it. Do note that the nut is counter-threaded, i.e. rotate clockwise (toward's driver's side) to loosen.

Anybody have this tool? It's needed to take the fan off of a BMW. I already have the 32mm wrench. Tried whacking it with a hammer like most people do on these cars and it's still not coming off.

^ You can get an adjustable one that will work from Canadian Tire as part of their tool rental program.

When you buy it, it states on the receipt that it's part of the program and eligible for a full refund if you return it in original condition within 24 or 48 hours (don't remember exactly).

I loaned it from the Grandview/Bentall location. They have them behind the auto parts counter on the lower level.

Thanks! They're only about 10 bucks on ebay but didn't feel like waiting 2-3 weeks.

A pentalobe?

Yes, I do have that and all other kinds of stuff............ I think I know where it is.

Should have asked yesterday......... you would have it by now.

I can bring it by later this evening or meet you at the casino, lol.

PM sent.

Thanks MG1 for have another random tool for me to borrow. Wish it was magnetic since the screws where so tiny but got the job completed.
Maybe I should make them magnetic before I return it back to you lol

Not to worry, I have a mag/demagnetizer. But if you want, go for it.......... I'm too lazy, lol.

PiuYi 09-06-2016 11:00 PM

looking for a gap measure for installing spark plugs.... supposed to be pre-gapped but i'm paranoid

MG1 09-07-2016 12:30 AM

I have one, but not driving to San Diego.

Also, you can use common things as alternatives to feeler gauges.

Credit cards, for example are 0.030 inches or .75 mm.

I used to know the thickness of the cardboard used on the spark plug box itself (NGK).

Feeler gauges aren't ideal for measuring spark plug gaps, anyway. Wire is best.

Did you use chopsticks to pick them out?

Not skilled enough, will have the next year to perfect the skill though

MG1 09-08-2016 05:14 PM

Practice makes perfect....... start with larger items, like 6 sided dice. Then move up............ errrrr...... down to dried peas, then grains of rice.

When you master that, go for fly blind folded, like Mr. Miyagi, aka MG1.

battsup 02-24-2017 05:15 PM

Does anyone have an R53 mini cooper S supercharger pulley removal tool? Specialty tool to pull off the pulley and a 3 arm puller won't do the job.
