It's apparently a high end service, with Geisha, Cup of Excellence, etc. I got some Cup of Excellence beans from another subscription before (beancurious) and it was literally the best coffee I ever had.

I subbed so I'll be able to check out their first shipment, but I don't think it gets sent until March 1 so it'll be a while.

Hoping to revive this thread with some more activity.. I recently spent a month in Japan, going to a ton of different kissaten and 3rd wave shops, and shared many of them on my instagram. I also post when I try new beans (including some from Macau that made me literally say "oh my god" out loud to nobody in particular, except maybe my cat). Check it out if you like coffee and don't mind it being mixed in with some training footage (and some half nekkid progress pics LUL )

Just wanted to say thanks for this. Got a shipping notification on the 28th, arrived today. Looking forward to trying it

Also registered for a subscription. Hopefully, it won't take long for them to ship to Vancouver.

Took about 5-7 business days, overall not too bad considering it's coming from HK.

Go for decaf? there's some very good ones out there

Hondaracer 03-17-2019 01:12 PM

The process for creating decaf would make me give up coffee all together if I had to go that route. Kinda defeats the purpose of coffee to me. It’s like drinking non-alcoholic beer, why bother? Lol

SkinnyPupp 03-17-2019 05:26 PM

Yeah I think a better option would be to take l-theanine along with the coffee, as that can counter the anxiety effects of caffeine (without reducing the anti fatigue effects)

Apparently, the Kicking Horse decaf is supposed to be pretty good.

Sometimes you just want to have a drink later in the evening without worrying that the caffeine will keep you wide eyed in bed.

anyone know where to get good OAT MILK?

iPee 05-22-2019 07:51 PM

My wife picked up some Oatly on her way back from Bellingham this weekend. She says it's only sold in the states. I think she's referring to the brand probably. Haven't been looking for oat milk specifically so can't say I've seen it locally.

Hondaracer 05-22-2019 08:33 PM

Choices and Donalds have a few different brands i think

Finally getting our kitchen back in order and getting our espresso machine back in operation. Due to laziness i ended up picking a bag of Agro espresso beans, a little bit more refined than before but still, those strong blueberry/acid notes are too much for me..

Always prefer the milder espresso with chocolate overtones etc

There is Minor Figures Oat M!lk if you want something similar to Oatly. They sell it at Federal Store and also at Winnow Coffee (online)

Any suggestions re espresso beans? I have been drinking Lavazza since discovering the wonders of espresso. Looking to change it up.

^

Stumptown Hairbender is extremely smooth. Considering they are one of the Big3 in third wave, it'd be a good point to start.

I'm guessing Intelligentsia and Blue Bottle in the States. All three which are basically now purchased by multi-billion industries.

Milano, Handworks, Winnow, 49th Parallel, Elysian, Matchstick, Modus.

From Darkish to light coffee choices.

My 2 cents.

Agro or Moving Coffee imo

Any of the American coffees are so expensive now. Stick to something like JJ bean, and get a espresso for free when you buy a pound.

My personal favorite is Moja

I've been drinking this lately.
I guess it's just literally chilled starbucks coffee.

But it seems to taste better than drinking coffee black.

Seems convenient to pour a cup and sip away when I feel like having cold coffee.

For premium coffee, there's actually little difference as most of the major premium coffees are traded in USD. If anything, it's going to be more expensive in Canada as they have to factor currency fluctuation into.

A bag of the Stumptown Hairbender for example can be had for around 11USD (13-14regular) on sale at Fred Meyers or even some Targets. Not sure about JJ Bean as I haven't been to one for a while. But Moja I think it was around 17 or 19 for the bag of 400g?
