This 49th parallel Xmas blend is tasty! A little syrupy at the end but it’s a nice change and was kind of a last minute grab from Donald’s when I realized I was out on Xmas Eve lol

It’s a Philips 3100 from Costco. I’ll definitely try to see if I can find the issues online. Thanks you guys | It actually went away on its own, after 2 months? lol
On a different note, is there a guide that someone would recommend on how to adjust your super espresso machine?
I know there aren't too much tinkering involve, but it would be nice if I can at least make the drinks taste a bit more better.

Try to adjust the grind size on the built-in grinder. Go as fine as you can until it gets bitter. Also get a good bag of beans from your local roaster

I know there aren't too much tinkering involve, but it would be nice if I can at least make the drinks taste a bit more better. | From my short experience with a Saeco super-auto at work, I suggest sticking with medium/dark to dark roast. The built in grinder and pump pressure with most super-autos are not made for light roast.
In terms of grind setting, once you adjust the setting, the first 2-3 shots won't come out well because of residual grinds from the previous setting.

Agreed on cafe22's recommendation.
We have (had due to COVID? lol??) a JURA machine at the office. Some dumb hipsters decided it was a good idea to throw in a bag of Norwegian light roasted coffee through it and it was just awful. Needless to say, the facilities manager was pretty pissed off about it and reloaded it with I think Van Houtte dark roast or something, and all was well again.
The only other "hack" I can think of is it make sure you run cleaning agents through the grinder and machine in general regularly, especially after going through a bag of really oil, dark roasted coffees. I don't know how often you use your machine, but I keep telling people I work with to always clean regularly, at least once a month minimum. Some people don't clean their machines until 6 months in.

I'm using this from Costco. https://www.costco.ca/lavazza-crema-...100413523.html
Read various guides that also says to go with the finest setting you can, then adjust the dose and water volume.

For shits and giggles, I bought a bag of that exact roast a few months ago and quite enjoyed it. Although once it got stale, it was terrible. That's nobody's fault but mine because I am the only espresso drinker in the home, so it takes a while for me to blow through 1KG. For $12.99, it's tough to beat.
I pulled ristretto shots using 18g on my Rocket Giotto, and got some nice flavours out of it, and a nice healthy volume of crema for a nice mouth feel and body to the overall experience. I don't recall having to grind it too fine, but do keep in mind I have a dedicated espresso grinder of commercial grade, so take my experience with a grain of salt. You can only get so far with this particular blend or brand of coffee, so adjust to your taste and preferences. I recall ending up choking my machine on too fine of a grind when I was initially trying to dial it in, and it was awful. Dialing it back towards the coarser side yielded better taste and flavour overall.

Bought this bag from the farmers market last weekend really enjoying it it’s pretty delicious albeit the beans were a little oily for the grinder I feel. I’ll def buy another bag if they are back. They had quite a few blends
I believe it’s a couple from Africa who are sourcing beans from all over and roasting them here? Apparently they also have a coffee shop in Langley?

Hey guys, I am looking to sell coffee beans in addition to my catering service. I'm wondering if you guys could take some time to fill out this survey so that I can cater to more of the car-enthusiast crowd? https://forms.gle/K2bHZxtV6RuWTcZC9 |

Those with home espresso machines, do you filter your water before using or do you just use straight tap water?

Imo there’s no reason to be filtering your water, in Vancouver at least.
I’ve been using some test tools for PPM and PH, as well as monitoring water reports which are available on a neighbourhood basis monthly and weekly for gardening purposes and there is really no reason to be using filtered, distilled water, etc. Vancouver water is pretty much as good as it gets

I don't think it's necessary to use filtered water in Vancouver. Maybe in places like Alberta and out East it's required.
I've been using tap water here in Toronto for the past 4 years w/o any issues. Can I taste a huge difference? I can't say for sure.

just make sure to drain the boiler at least 1-3 times a year at minimum to reduce any scale buildup if you don't run your machine daily.

Ok sounds good, will be bringing the machine home from Alberta and wanted to know. The tap water where I am at is quite hard.

2 in 1 espresso machines is costing you grind quality and espresso quality at the expense of convenience
difficult to dial in and adjust grind size, you end up with neither good grind or a good shot

if convenience is what you're after, then for that price, I would just go with an Nespresso with milk frothier.
Any time you have to bring these super automatic machine for servicing will cost you 1/4 of the machine. They also do not perform well with any light/medium roast coffees, so you have to routinely clean the grinder mechanism to reduce coffee oil buildup.

Not a crazy coffee hipster like @bcrdukes but with the recent Amex Shop Small promotion ($5 credit off $10+ purchase), and awesome summer weather we been enjoying lately, I want to hit up a few cafes around town. Perference would be if they also serve some light snack/lunches as well. And maybe have their own beans to bring home if I find it interesting. Aside from Agro and 49th Parellel, any other suggestion around town? TIA.

I love drinking coffee, but to me, coffee is coffee.
I think I just like caffeine in general.
