Tim hoes is shit. Coffee in London is shit.

toyota86 01-14-2015 09:48 PM

if its hot, doppio or black
if its cold aka dessert drinks, anything goes

lately coffee intake has decreased. been drinking a lot of london fog recently.

lady_mapetite 01-14-2015 10:04 PM

i drink 2/3 cups at work.. 1st one is usually with 1 sugar 1 cream cause i drink on an empty stomach.. 2 and 3 one are black with 1 sugar

weekends i brew espresso with my moka when i'm at home or just grab something on the go (americano, dry capp, viet coffee, affogato)

i'm a coffee lover.. used to spend my days at coffee shops just so i can smell fresh roasted/brewed coffee while i study

side note: tried the highly anticipated starbucks flat white out of curiosity and was sorely disappointed, anyone feel the same after paying $4 for milk?

A bit of lactose free milk, 1 spoon of tapioca sugar, press the coffee in, and water to dilute.

I've tried unsalted butter with half spoon sugar no milk as well, apparently it gives a steady fix of caffeine throughout the day. I drink it cause i wake up too early and crash without it.

What's the average price for an aeropress?

Sounds like a great alternative to an espresso machine!

lowside67 01-14-2015 10:32 PM

They are like $26 from Amazon.

It takes up less space, super easy to clean up, and quick as well. Just make sure you get the metal re-usable filter.

You would think so, but its actually a flavor.

I used to get a small double double at timmies (2c 2s) and I thought the sugar and cream shots were always the same amount. Not exactly, the sugar and cream is proportioned to give it the same taste every time.

1 cream 1 sugar in an XL is more cream/sugar than a small double double, due to the shot size, but noobs out there think they are drinking less sugar. Small double double tastes the exact same as any size double double, which confused the hell out of me as timmies doesn't use standard shot sizes for cream and sugar.

Trust me, I loved small double doubles and found out the hard way when I ordered an XL quintuple quintuple. 2.5 times the size so I figured I'd need 2.5 times the sugar/cream.

You should do some testing to see if you like the results from the metal filter. While it is reusable, it is a substantially less fine filter than the paper and many, myself included, prefer the paper results. A 350 pack of Aeropress filters (ie a one year supply) is $6.99 from Aeropress so it's not exactly a cost consideration.

This is turning into the aero press thread.. but anyways, i forget who asked, and i don't know how many methods there are, but this is the one I use:

Aeropress - Stumptown Coffee Roasters

Pre-heating the filter... interesting, i'll give this a try. Thanks for the link.

Flat Whites will taste different, just like all coffee depending who is making your beverage. Come by and see me and I'll make you the best "flat white" you will ever get at a Bux.

The espresso shots that we use are "ristretto" shots, so same amount of coffee with less water. Making it stronger flavor. All sizes get an extra shot of espresso, and by default come with homo milk which makes it creamier.

At the end of the day though, if your barista is shit, your coffee is going to be shit. Come see me, i'm not shit.

Ch28 01-15-2015 02:46 PM

We have a Nespresso machine at home, so I usually do a Ristretto, Rosabaya, or Fortissio Lungo with a tiny bit of sugar. We also have an Aeroccino 3, so we'd use that if we're in the mood for a latte on the commute into work

For the best coffee flavour make sure your local cafe has a minimum number of edison bulbs and your barista has at least two visible tattoos

Make sure your barista looks like this

hud 91gt 01-15-2015 03:27 PM

I'd say id agree with that, but she's trying to sell that bloody camping coffee. I only drink that shit when I'm hungover followed up with a beer. I got conned into one of those 4 dollar drip cups at the coffee shop next to tacofino haha. Silly hipsters lol

BBMme 01-15-2015 08:06 PM

Starbucks = pike with milk and honey
Tim Hortons = dark one cream

Derek_N84 01-15-2015 10:20 PM

Indonesian, Costa Rican or Guetamalen roasts are currently my favourite. French pressed if I want the body or Hario V60 pour over if I want a cleaner finish. I'll usually drink it black or the butter coffee style. 1 tbsp of grass fed butter and coconut oil per cup with a small pinch of sea salt.

I drink it for the taste and that comfort feeling it brings. Nothing turns a day around like a good cup of coffee :D

AzNightmare 01-16-2015 02:23 AM

I love drinking coffee and caffeinated drinks.
But I pretty much don't drink alcohol at all.

Godzira 01-16-2015 08:11 AM

I can't stand Starbucks coffee, is it just me? I'd take 7-11 coffee over starbucks anyday.

BrRsn 01-16-2015 11:26 AM

^OMG like totally.

last time i was in there, bitch in front of me was wearing the same infinity scarf and balenciaga. I have never felt so embarrassed!

donjalapeno 01-16-2015 11:37 AM

I use to spend $50-$60 bucks a month on coffee and then I bought a tassimo a week ago and it changed everything. Their is some negative aspects to it but so far I'm loving it, specially the cappuccinos.

right. :suspicious:

Nightwalker 01-17-2015 12:02 PM

I like to use a moka pot, but sometimes I use my aeropress or a stainless canteen w/ screw in stainless filter.

Single estate high altitude central american beans, hand grind them with my Hario grinder.

Everything is compact so I can bring it to the office or travel.

I drink it black or blended with unsalted grassfed (as possible) butter & MCT oil.

Milk is shit (doubly so being lactose intolerant) and so is sugar. :dead:

Coffee can still bother my GI though, so lately I've just been doing caffeine & l-theanine in the day and a cup of this coffee before bed:
http://countingsheepcoffee.com/

Wanted to try it out, decaf w/ some valerian root.

Oh yeah that reminds me, all the coffee lovers in this thread should absolutely consider taking l-theanine with their coffee every morning. It cuts down any potential jitters, and has so much synergy with caffeine. It just seems to engage your brain, improve your mood, and get the day started right.

I like to take 200 mg of the powder and put it under my tongue after finishing some coffee. It has this sort of sweet/bitter taste that is quite nice. Best of all, it's really cheap.
