Hario Mini Mill Mod Guide - Coffee Brew Guides

I'm almost tempted to buy a real grinder sometimes, making coffee for more than 2 people isn't fun.

For myself personally, I like to use 12 clicks for French Press and 8 clicks for the V60.
I saw that mod, might try it some time. Need to buy some scotch tape For me the big revelation was to keep it in place while grinding - that made a huge difference. I'm not sure if this guy is doing it this way or not - it looks like he might not be, and somehow the mod makes up for it. His "unmodded" 15 clicks looks horrible, mine never looks that bad.

I never make coffee for more than 2 people so I'm fine with it Still not worth $200 for me to save 2 minutes of grinding each time I make coffee.

I drink my coffee with milk and no sugar now. Why? Because I was tired of people fucking up the amount of sugar I'd ask for (2 milk, 1 sugar). Eventually started putting sugar in by myself which later led to me not using sugar at all.

I've found that once I got used to milk, I couldn't go back to cream. It tastes so fattening and just blech... anyone else?

Really interesting. What sort of symptoms are you finding that coffee helps with? Is it like a drink-a-cup-in-the-morning thing, or tank some coffee whenever it gets bad? I'm experiencing the most severe reactions to my eyes this season.

I drink mine with a dash of cream/milk. Used to drink it with sugar but enjoy it a lot better now that I've finally managed to cut it out.

My allergies feel the worst in the morning when my body is at a rest state. After I have my first coffee, my heart rate goes up and my nose begins to dry up and stop itching. I don't know if it's the coffee or the caffeine in the coffee that helps.

I'm not sure if the post was to promote cute hipster girl or just caffeine overdose.

recently been making ice coffees at home,

what you need for a tall glass

6-8 ice cubes

about 6 ounces of stronger brewed coffee than you would normally make (ice will melt and dilute)

top off the glass with milk/cream

i also put a table spoon of vanilla creamer in for some sweetness but that all comes down to preference

another way, freeze coffee in an ice cube tray and ad them to a glass of milk

i havnt tried that way personally but i plan too

To add, you can get refurbs direct from baratza as well. 99usd for encore.

Been using a Hario hand grinder for about a year and a half and finally decided to upgrade to the Baratza. I would say it was definitely worth it!

Also got a Bonavita as well as a weighing scale to make my measurements a little better.
Spoiler!

Using an Aerorpess and French press (when I need to make more than a few cups) atm. Would you guys also recommend getting a pour over? I've never tried it before but the V60 seems pretty easy to use and isn't too expensive.

I use to hand mill with my Hario Skerton and only keep it at work now. Upgrading to the Encore was worth every penny.

What is everyone currently using? This could turn into a RS coffee hipster/asshole thread

Baratza Encore
Hario scale with timer
Hario V60 black metal
Hario V60 ceramic
Hario Skerton
Aeropress
Bodum Press
Espro Press P5 coming soon
Kalita Wave 185 on the way
Bonavita goose neck kettle (hoping to upgrade to the temp variable version)

Got some Yunnan beans from my subscription and omg they are so good. If you like Sumatran beans, with their earthy, woodsy taste, this is perfect as those flavours seem to be even more pronounced.

I use a V60 each time now unless I'm really lazy, I'll use the aeropress instead. Grinding with a Hario mini

Forbidden: Generally a pourover will get you better clarity, less body. The V60 is pretty cheap so it doesn't hurt to try it. The kettle is probably the most expensive item and you already got one.
Skinny: You sign up for Coffee & Tales? I see their google ads all the time.

Lineup:
Tiamo Scale/Timer
Tiamo Electric Grinder
Hario Minimill
V60 Ceramic
Kalita 185 Glass
Tiamo K01 Metal (Kalita 155 Copy)
Hario Buono Kettle
Hario XGS Carafe

Right now, I'm just mainly using the K01.

Mazzer Robur Electronic
Ratio Eight Coffee Maker
Hario V60 V2 ceramic
Beehouse ceramic
Hario XGS Carafe
Reg Barber Tamper

I roast my own beans. Probably missing a lot of other shit, but you get the idea.

when did this turn into a dick contest!

I got
k-cup machine for my drip coffee (the best is pikes peak roast, i love the roastiness)
nespresso for my espresso (the best is the black one because it's so roasty)
superstore kettle for my boiled water to make americanos with my nespressos (the best is adding water to the black one because it's so roasty and watery)

At work it's a Fresh Ground Saltspring Island Coffee variety. It's free, I drink it black.

On the weekends it's usually just a good fresh ground Medium or Dark Roast, whatever's on sale. I'll add a little bit of honey, or if I'm in a vacation-y mood I'll add some baileys.

Going out for espresso coffee is rare (I'll never go out of my way to get some), I'll usually just have a plain old cappuccino, nothing added.

Just as rare for me is having coffee in the afternoon.

I'm no coffee snob. Coffee is for perking me up and clearing me out, that's it.
