Coffee - how do you drink it and why?

So I am wondering how you guys drink your coffee and why? I used to drink coffee with lots of sugar and cream and changed to black. This help me quit smoking since it wasn't a familiar taste anymore.

I also heard TONS of people tell me how bad sugar/cream is and this helped me cut down, but I did a little research.

1 Cup 2% milk vs 1 cup double double (from Timmies)

Same calories at roughly 122cal
7g fat (coffee) vs 4g fat (milk)
Same sat fats (3g)
Same cholesterol (24mg)
Roughly the same sugar (13-14g)
Roughly the same carbs (12-14g)
1.8g protein (coffee) vs 8g protein (milk)

As you can see, it has a few small differences but it is more or less the same crap. If people are trying to cut down on sugar/fat I would do it elsewhere! There is no point drinking black coffee if you have two chocolate bars a day.

I don't drink coffee at all... I get to work and drink water all day and on rare occasions I will have tea or hot chocolate.

started with double double way back in university...when i was still a coffee nub
now its pretty much jus black
on odd days its one cream half sugar

i pretty much just drink coffee to avoid that headache, tbh i can't rmbr the last day i haven't drank coffee, pretty sure its been years.

Coffee Black with very tiny pinch of Sea Salt (salt cuts down the bitterness of coffee but dont put too much :smug:)

GLOW 01-13-2015 07:36 AM

black or a little bit of milk. i dont feel a need for cream and it's more fattening so why bother.

the odd time i'll spoil myself and get flavoured creamo like bailey's :toot:

Black. If you really need to water down and sweeten something to make it tolerable, then do you really like that thing in the first place?

flagella 01-13-2015 07:50 AM

Used to be a large cup everyday. Quit now and tea only.

That is stupid. If that was the case then anyone who puts jam or butter on their bread is not a true bread lover. ?? :suspicious:

I just got an aeropress for xmas, so that's what I've been using since then. I used to use a french press, and had one coffee in the morning. Now I have one in the afternoon as well.

I usually have a "bulletproof" style in the morning. This is with 1 tbsp of butter and 1 tbsp of MCT oil in a blender. If I feel like a hot coffee I'll have it black. Sometimes I'll use a splash of evaporated milk. Never sugar

In the summer I like to have vietnamese style

As for why, because it tastes good and I like caffeine.

I do the same too, coworkers think i'm crazy when they see me shaking a mason jar of coffee to mix it. We don't have a blender at work...

I have a $700 Saeco espresso machine. Sometimes I have it black sometimes I have it with 33% cream and sugar. I drink it in te morning cuz it helps me poo. Then I go jogging.

sonick 01-13-2015 08:24 AM

One 16oz black each morning on weekday, and usually an 8oz each weekend morning. Just one per day.

I am fairly insensitive to caffeine, so I drink it for the taste and the ritual (nothing like enjoying a coffee in my robe on a Sunday morning with nothing to do).

westopher 01-13-2015 08:24 AM

Black, about 4 cups a day. It helped me quit drinking pop and lose 25 lbs and keep it off a year ago. I need the caffeine as well.

bcedhk 01-13-2015 08:24 AM

Morning-Either a cappuccino if I have the time or an americano.
After lunch-a brewed coffee with either an aeropress or french press.
After work- espresso or macchiato.
After dinner- espresso

Started off drinking coffee with cream and sugar then switched to black coffee for about 5 years. One day a few years ago my wife left her 1 sugar 2 cream coffee on the table so I drank it... I can say that I've gone black, and I've gone back. To cream and sugar.

quasi 01-13-2015 08:51 AM

I drink it with cream and sugar daily, one cup in the morning and the odd time a cup after dinner. There is so much worse shit I eat and drink I'm not even worried about the cream or sugar if I wanted to get healthier I cut the other shit first then maybe cut out the cream and sugar.

I wish all that cream and sugar I add to it really did make me fat like all the people in here claim...:concentrate:

I was at 4 cups a day at one point, now I concentrate on one cup a day usually once I get settled in the morning. After that I drink water, or if I want something warm it'll be tea.

I add a bit of sugar, and one creamer

BrRsn 01-13-2015 09:23 AM

Aeropress crew checking in

Usually have it black, or pour it in a shaker cup with ice + half a cup skim milk :sweetjesus:

Hondaracer 01-13-2015 09:30 AM

Black, time to time 1 cream

Regular brewer, french press, pour over, and viet style press for iced coffee

Love/live off coffee. Probably drink a minimum 1 20oz cup a day

Liquid_o2 01-13-2015 09:31 AM

Max one cup a day, but I don't even need one everyday. In the end I'll have 3-4 a week. Typically black if it is a good cup of coffee. A little sugar and cream if it is Starbucks.

I have a Nespresso machine, but only use it a few times a week, usually on weekends when I can relax.

MG1 01-13-2015 09:34 AM

I stopped drinking coffee for decades until one RS member, who shall remain nameless, introduced me to those creamers found in the dairy case. Now I'm hooked on the shit. Five cups of coffee a day on average. At least I switched to the no fat, no sugar types that are sold only in the US. Thank god they're fairly cheap at Winco.
