That’s the issue. Lots of shops are doing HUGE amounts of r&d (such as stratified in Richmond) and other shops all around the world. The issue goes way depeer than just the head gasket. Most people like myself aren’t too worried. Well keep it stock and if t blows, it will be under warranty. No worse than Toyota and the V6 head gaskets, STI’s and ringland failure, evo X and fuel pump failures etc etc.

The biggest issue is that ford has been utterly silent for a year and a half to the owners. No credible mention of a cause, a guarantee of recall or extension of drivetrain warranty etc. I was so satisfied with my ST and ford experience. But so far they have handled this issue with their flagship hot hatch so poorly, it’s really shaken my faith. I’m definitely not the only one either

Was linked to an article. I’ve avoided most articles since until ford confirms anything, it’s all here say. But this has been suggested many many times in the past, and would be the best case scenario

This makes a lot of sense since the headgasket shown in that photo/video had an extra hole in it for a cooling channel that didn't exist on the RS engine block.

It would make sense since a bunch of people / shops who saw the “updated” replacement head gasket noticed a bunch of coolant passages were blocked off for the new HG. Still weird

Ford should know how many and which cars were affected. I'm assuming perhaps a batch of HG got swapped by mistake? At least that's what I would like to think. Even then I'm sure it would be a run of certain numbers in sequence they could track down and contact the owners.

Berz out.
