When I was looking for my '14 ST, it was 32k. A 2011 sti was still 35k and the evo x even more. So I don't see how an sti could realistically start at 37

The STI goes from $38-$45. You have to remember that its not a ford and is still worth something when it comes time to sell it.

If the RS is $38K in the states, it will be more expensive than the STI here.
I think the price will drop in a year after the initial buzz.
i am wondering if it is because the RS is built only in cologne germany. current exchange rates, duties and shipping costs cannot be working in favor of the final price...

I wouldn't worry much about depreciation, rare(ish) and desirable Fords tend to hold their value pretty well. Agree that their regular cars aren't worth anything after a few years.
Lol @ STI starting at 38k, that model is so basic and stripped down it's not really good for anything but a track only build, don't think I've ever seen one on the road in that trim.
^^ exactly. But I wasn't gonna argue with that guy. Clearly not worth it base sti's feel 5 years old right out of the box (not including the 2015 maybe

sorry man but this is NOT a Ford P68, GT, GT40 or classic 1969 Boss Mustang.
Perhaps Focus SVT did hold its value a bit better but not that well compare to other Japanese cars. Same as Neon SRT-4.
Sure, some Fords hold value so well that you can actually sell for more than MSRP but I can't see it happening with this car.
And I just bought a 14' ST... But like mentioned, I have a feeling the RS once it's all said and done is gonna be pretty expensive. A properly optioned out one I'm thinking will be mid 40's at least.
Timpo you buffoon. We're not saying it will go up in value. We are saying the St was a good buy (as will the RS) and depreciation should be very limited. Not a tone sold. Most have been kept stock and so on. A mazdaspeed3 is more accurate to compare to an srt4.

i think the differences btwn a base STI and a loaded version isnt too much iirc...
you pay more for a sunroof, foglights, and slightly better speakers. . oh, and NAV.
unless subaru is offering a bare bones version with no radio?
I like the RS because it's smaller and more compact to an STi. I still can't believe I am choosing a FORD over a SUBARU right now. I do not like the new STi at all, The GC8, GD and 08-14 models of the STi we're great. The new one, looks in my opinion too big, too much like a family sedan and nothing screams rally. The engine has been the same for 2 generations now pretty much and it's time for SUBARU to step it up a notch and finally deliver something that's smaller, more powerful and has some rally inspiration in it again. Ford is going in the right direction with this RS. It's growing on me.
I guess also it's exciting, STI has lost that excitement factor for me. Again, lots of people will probably disagree with me especially the fan boys, even though I am a fan boy of SUBARU but in this case, I'd take that RS over an STI.
rear fog light looks hella cheap...they need the ones you can find on JDM hondas
those taillights were nice when revealed 5 years ago but will be dated for a 2017 model (to presuambly 2020+)
everything else is superb though...overall i'm surprised how appealing it is even without a widebody...and focus is historically an ugly/ricer looking vehicle

I just got that email from focusst.org telling me about that website.
So how long do you think until dealerships will start getting info on the car. I'd like to go in and talk about my options as per ordering and stuff. I figure since it's only just February it will still be a while
it was wrxforums that sent me notice of this site...
when i went to test drive a 2015 mustang last weekend the salesperson did not have anything official and was relying on the internet just like the rest of us.
i would use that message board to ask your question, if someone hasn't posted it already.

that motor is currently in the 2015 mustang and tuners are hitting big numbers boosting it up so we'll have to see what happens between now and when the rs gets released.
i am unfamiliar with this awd system. do they use it on the wrc fiesta rally car?
