Now why would you say that.

Edit: if people who bought the ST in the market if fwd cars (such as myself) it's still. Great buy. Better performance, tech and lower price than the competition. Mazdaspeed 3, gti, Hyundai fwd turbo hatch thing, etc. So if we trade in, it's because we want into the AWD market like evo's and sti's. Doesn't mean we had a stupid buy in the hot hatch segment

Gucci Mane 09-18-2015 06:16 PM

one guy is trading in his focus st and a 360 spyder. another is trading in his 09 ranger rover supercharged.

da fuq?

Specs are good, but not keen on the interior...especially when the MRSP is (tentatively) around $46,000.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/wp-cont...91-876x535.jpg

IMO, Golf R or the S3 are better alternatives.

http://theautoz.com/images/audi-s3-interior-9.jpg

I prefer the S3's lower profile dashboard (for a larger wind shield) and motorized screen (biased, of course), LED-lit cup holders, LED-lined speakers, MMI of course, and umm... the twistable titties :) (I meant... the air-conditioner vents).

jasonturbo 09-18-2015 06:56 PM

The interior is why I didn't wait for the Focus RS, it feels very child like inside to me.

Brilliant alternative to the STI though, far more refined than its Subaru counterpart I suspect.

Edit: I will also say the Golf R is a bit of a soft car + has no hand brake, hopefully it's still hoonable in the snow... if you're looking for something a bit more sporty the RS is probably a stellar buy - the S3 and MK7 R are the adults of the segment, super comfy inside.

dared3vil0 09-18-2015 07:08 PM

That interior is severely lacking for 46k...

might be a good time to pick up a focus ST though...

Lol, no. I traded in a 50k+ truck at 7% interest for a 30k car at 0% interest. Definitely don't feel like a dumbass. But thanks for coming out!

As for interior. I like mine, everyone who has sat in my car loves in (albeit the Recaros help a lot). Not that I've been in too many brand new vehicles but I like everything about my ST, which is essentially the same interior as an RS.

And no, I will not be trading in my ST for an RS.

320icar 09-18-2015 09:51 PM

This. Only thing I'd add to my interior is a flat bottom steering wheel

Akinari 09-19-2015 12:37 AM

Having been inside an A3/S3 in a showroom, it's miles above anything Ford could ever dish out. I would rock that interior all day everyday. So awesome, so driver focused, so simple and clean. LOVE.

Thursday mailbag:

Focus will be only available in one trim level for Canadians(45-46K). Dealers WILL NOT be allocated any RS's but will build if a factory order is made. Meaning if you want one in the first year you better put down a deposit and order one.

Email statement I received from Ford Canada today:

"The all-new Focus RS is expected to be delivered to North American customers in the spring of 2016. The car debuts new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring for outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed, and features a specially engineered version of Ford’s new 2.3-litre EcoBoost 350 HP engine, which delivers 4.7-second 0‑100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration and hits 265 kph."

Ford released its Official trailer of its 8 part series that will start on September 30th that will be released as follows
Eight weekly episodes start on Sept. 30:

· Episode 1: Project kick-off – Block and Nair debate what the car should deliver, from behind the wheel of an early prototype

· Episode 2: Design and development – Crunching crashes put the new design to the toughest of tests

· Episode 3: Hitting the road – A 1,600-kilometre (1,000-mile) drive through epic terrain takes prototypes from high in the Rocky Mountains to the Arizona desert

· Episode 4: Test-track trials – Block heads for Ford’s top-secret test facility, and indulges in some “hooning”

· Episode 5: Arctic extremes – Winter testing in Sweden, and the team is under pressure to improve performance

· Episode 6: Power struggle – It’s all about performance, as the Ford manufacturing plant in Saarlouis, Germany, gears up for production

· Episode 7: Close scrutiny – The day of the critical sign-off drive follows Block’s headline appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

· Episode 8: Final chapter – It’s time for the nail-biting management review

The series trailer is available to view here

Happy Thursday :)

Tuesday Mailbag:

Ford Canada

Pricing

In Canada, the Focus RS in Canada will be offered in one fully-equipped orderable configuration with no free-standing options, except for the chargeable Nitrous Blue Quad-Coat paint. The RS MSRP is $46,969 plus $1,600 D&D and $100 Federal A/C tax. The Nitrous Blue Quad-Coat paint has a $995 MSRP.

The $46,969 MSRP includes heated power Recaro® leather seats, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, SYNC® 3 with Navigation, Sony® Audio System with 10 speakers with SiriusXM® radio, Power Moonroof, RS Car Cover, 19” Premium Painted Forged Alloy wheels, 19” Michelin® Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, Michelin® Pilot Alpin PA4 18” Winter Tire & RS Alloy Wheel Package (this winter tire/wheel package is shipped separately to the dealership), plus a whole lot more. A complete Order Guide and Price List will be published to dealers in the near future.

Innovative Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive

The control unit in the rear drive unit continuously varies the front/rear and side-to-side torque distribution to suit the current driving situation, monitoring inputs from multiple vehicle sensors 100 times per second. A maximum of 70 per cent of the drive torque can be diverted to the rear axle. Up to 100 per cent of the available torque at the rear axle can be sent to each rear wheel. The AWD system has been tuned to deliver exceptional grip – with lateral acceleration exceeding 1 g – and class-leading cornering speed and acceleration out of a bend.

Michelin® High Performance Summer and Winter Tires

High-performance 235/35 R19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires to complement the driving dynamics of the Focus RS. Ford Performance engineers have also approved the Michelin 225/40R18 Pilot Alpin PA4 winter tires and developed an 18” RS alloy wheel for cold weather applications. In Canada, a winter tire/wheel package will be standard equipment on the Focus RS and will be shipped separately to the dealership.

Brembo Brakes

For enhanced braking during hard track driving, the all-new Focus RS features 350 mm (13 ľ inch) ventilated front discs and lightweight aluminium Brembo® four-piston monoblock calipers – painted in distinctive RS blue with a Brembo

RS Exhaust Sound

Ford Performance engineers have tuned the RS to deliver a rewarding and sporty sound character during spirited driving, with the distinctive burbles and pops that are a RS signature. This very special 2.3-litre EcoBoost unit will inspire drivers as they feel the surge of the turbo, and reward them as they take it to the red line – all delivered with a stirring sound guaranteed to put a smile on the driver’s face.

need to wait and see what the performance figures and real world comparison shows first.

should the evo be on the list above? i thought this was its last year?

heleu 10-08-2015 08:39 AM

Wow. Didn't expect it to price out a Golf R.

Nabatron 10-08-2015 10:12 AM

yeah the price is alittle on the high end...

Ford has stopped taking build orders for them or in other words they are sold out. Dealerships can still take a deposit and send in a build request but the chance of them building one for you in MY 2016 is slim to none. We have some expected arrival dates as far back as June/July 2016.

jasonturbo 12-18-2015 03:20 PM

Lol 52K for a Focus RS... that's 10K more than I paid for my Golf R.

It might be a good car, but as a value proposition, the Golf R is a much better buy.

I don't disagree how much value you get for the price of the Golf R but it would only be 10K less if you didn't pay any taxes. Everyone sees value in different areas. Some might see lots of value with 58 more hp and 70lbs more torque, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and wheels for summer and Michelin Alpin PA4 winters mounted on 18" alloy wheels for winter. Some could care less. This is why its great to have more then just the STi playing the market. Even with the S3 in the game now it might not be the fastest by any means but its by far the most expensive when you option it out but damn its nice  to each their own

it comes included with winter tires? or is that an extra cost accessory?

68style 12-18-2015 05:00 PM

Why the fuck they force people to take winter tires and rims as a package? That's stupid... Take it out of the price and make it a bloody option instead of raping everyone on it hiding it in the MSRP, which I'm sure they are doing.

jasonturbo 12-18-2015 05:59 PM

Just in terms of power, the VW drive train can make crushing power with a flash and downpipe... if that's what you're worried about.

I don't see the RS listing winter tires/wheels are standard equipment... just the summers.

Here in Alberta it's a 10K discount if you go with the Golf R Base vs Focus RS... if you DSG and tech package a Golf R it's like 46.5K... which I also think is insane.
