It doesn't show up on the configurator lol It's not that I don't believe you.

Here in Alberta it's a 10K discount if you go with the Golf R Base vs Focus RS... if you DSG and tech package a Golf R it's like 46.5K... which I also think is insane.

So you void your warranty to get into the same power class? haha.

I'm gonna go ahead and ASSume that the RS will be available in a "base" model next year. They just want their first gen, first year cars, to have all the bells and whistles.

I don't think the price is too far off just a smidge on the high side. But they could have made the tires/wheel combo option and save the buyers say $2000.

underscore 12-18-2015 09:26 PM

According to the TV ad I saw, all new Fords will come with summers and winters. While it seems like a good idea, most vehicles ship with shit tires, so if the supplied winters are just as bad it's more of an inconvenience then a perk.

brrrz 12-19-2015 08:20 AM

"Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and wheels for summer and Michelin Alpin PA4 winters mounted on 18" alloy wheels for winter"

You will get highly rated winters and summers both mounted on alloy wheels both with TPM

blackGS? 12-19-2015 10:29 AM

I'm guessing dealers marked these cars up at least 5gs over sticker price.
Was checking prices on EVO final editions, some dealers have been asking 56-58gs.
In terms of rarity probably the same number of units released to Canada? 350?

g-velocity 12-19-2015 09:05 PM

$48.6k including frieght and pdi is not too much for a German made 340hp AWD hot hatch......
A Golf R with similar options priced at $48.9k with tech pack and F&P too.
A STi with Tech pack is $47.5k

NNT 12-21-2015 09:52 AM

Its pricey but not too overprice. the RS is made in Germany and pretty much same price as a STi. and its the closest thing come from Ford to the iconic Escort RS Cosworth that hit the market over 20 years ago. Now imagine if Lancia bring back the Delta Integrale or Toyota bring back the Celica GT-4.

thumper 12-26-2015 06:50 AM

ugh. i spoke to a salesperson from key west ford and he said the dealership was only allocated one RS for 2016 (not including any customer factory orders)... i don't know what it's like at the other dealerships but just how rare is this going to be?

jasonturbo 12-26-2015 07:17 AM

If anyone wants an RS and the local dealers say that they can't get you one, start calling small town dealers.

Worked for me with my MK7 R.

The Ford ordering process explained from start to finish

Dealerships were not allowed to order a RS unless there was a customers name on the build sheet. First year is by factory order only. They want the RS to be exclusive and hard to get creating more demand (at least at first). Each dealership was allowed to order as many as they wanted until the contracted number of units built with the factory was filled. Following the old rule of "build one less then the people demand". The mark up is actually similar to an STI. Just because it's domestic doesn't mean it has 5-10k of markup. This is actually only true in the truck world tbh.
The order process is pretty easy for the RS because it only comes fully loaded. Only thing you have to chose is color. Ordering one will take as long and be as complicated as remembering how to spell your name

This is either not true, or the dealers are bucking the system.

I know of one dealer here that plans to have two of these in their showroom for sale.

This same dealer also offered me an RS if I wanted one, 100% he could get it for me.

Sauce: He manages the dealership, just talked to him 5 minutes ago and confirmed this.

Ultimately it should not be that hard to get one, is anyone here actually ordering one?

320icar 12-26-2015 01:48 PM

If I had he money, 100% but I'm fine with my focus st for $20k less

tofu1413 12-26-2015 01:53 PM

makes the ST focus tremendous value compared to RS.

320icar 12-26-2015 04:50 PM

Yeah. I mean, once I see an RS in person with the sick driveline, brakes, body kit and recaro seats I will probably feel a bit different. But I could go buy a fiesta ST used for less than the difference of trading the st and getting an RS. And could make that a stripped out track car lol.

I'm just rambling. Hiding on revscene to avoid conversation with the mother in law

Don't forget it's a German made Ford.
A Golf R with less power costs the even more with the same amount of options equipped and STi/Evo are only $1000 cheaper.
Evo is
People pays over $80k for an American made MB or BMW.

I paid 42K for my Golf R taxes in, 6MT w/ Nav.

If you option out a Golf R with DSG it's no longer comparably equipped for one, and it's still far less money.

According to the websites:

My Base 6MT Golf
39995 + 1605 Freight PDI + GST = $43,680

Loaded DSG w/ Tech Golf
43410 + 1605 freight PDI + GST = $47,265

Focus RS Base (No fancy blue paint)
46969 + 1700 "Fees" + GST = $48,754
Though the website actually quoted me @ $51,103 after taxes.

Base STI
37995 + 521.25 "fees" + 1650 freight PDI + GST = $42,174

Sport Tech STI (Has NAV, probably the better comparison)
45395 + 521.25 "fees" + 1650 freight PDI + GST = $47,566

Evo MR
51998 - 2500 Incentive + 129.55 "fees" + 1600 freight PDI + GST = $53,788 (No Nav lol, with Nav it's $57,883)

Evo GSR w/ Nav
45982 -2500 Incentive + 129.55 "fees" + 1600 freight PDI + GST = $47,472

So then comparably equipped (Minus the fact that you can't get a Golf R w/ Sunroof/moonroof)

Golf R - $43,680
EVO GSR w/ Nav - $47,472
STI Sport Tech - $47,566
Focus RS - $51,103

Maybe I'm retarded, but from what I can see, Golf R still the cheapest, Focus RS still the most expensive, and there exists a massive 7400$ delta between the Golf and the Focus.

Disclaimer - There are no "fees" listed on the VW website, looking at the bill of sale for my R, I paid a total of;
$6.25 AMVIC
$20 Tire Levy
$100 Air Tax

I've been trying to find an allocation for a while. Could someone kindly PM me and lead me to the right direction? Much appreciated.

All right Keyboard Warrior,
I didn't realize the price of the R is actually price included.
However, why don't you compare apple to apple.
The RS comes with navi and moon roof which is equivalent to R with Tech pack/PDI/Freight makes it $43615 + tax and other fees.
RS still makes more power than the R by 60 more HP and 70 more lb/ft torque .
Its the most powerful vehicle amount the vehicles above.
You can argue all day about how expensive the RS is but fact is still a very high demand car.
BTW, the STi Tech pack is 47565 before tax which is 1000 less than for Focus RS.

320icar 12-26-2015 11:23 PM

Sure but I would take an RS over a golf R over and over and over. Personal taste, so stop arguing it

Lol

Base R still comes with Nav 6.5" screen, tech pack comes with 8" nav screen. Not that it matters, even a loaded DSG car still costs less than the RS.

You said a comparably equipped Golf R costs more than the RS which is incorrect. Go buy an RS if you want a one I don't care lol maybe you prefer how the RS looks or you feel you really need that extra 60hp on the street etc.

Sorry I stumbled into fanboy convo, I didn't realize that's what this thread is.
