I'm happy at just under $50k after tax all in.

like someone said, the canadian allocation is very small, with dealer allocatíons barely amounting to one per dealership across canada, which compared to the US is barely anything. on top of that, there were many who put down deposits before production even started so that leaves pretty much nothing left... there will be more lamborghinis on the road here than this thing.

oh yea, totally forgot about the new ctr LOL

plus the new ctr has a lot of "nostalgia" for certain people, but in this day and age, the amount of people that want to buy a hot hatch and have it look obnoxious af is relatively in the minority.

Theres no denying that the new ctr is ridiculously fast but seeing as how honda has been out of the "fun to drive" market for almost a decade now *at least over here*, might be hard for normal buyers to want to shell out nearly 50k for a civic

thumper 01-31-2016 07:52 PM

but more of those nostalgic people who remember a different time when hondas were fast and fun will pay more for a civic (just look at itr prices right now) than they will for a $50k ford that only few can get who only know what a performance focus was from the old SVT or something out of european car magazines :(

Mr.Stubbz 01-31-2016 09:01 PM

i dunno though, most of those people are also totally aware that they can build a faster car with more of the nostalgic lightweight tossability than shell out more than double possibly for a vehicle thats untested for long term reliability.

also in a manufacturer standpoint, the new ctr might be even rarer than the new focus rs due to the fact that honda doesnt exactly have the statistical information needed to know if enough people are willing to actually buy the vehicle, its pretty easy for people online to join some random petition saying that they want the car over here and would be interested in buying one, but when push comes to shove and they actually have to spend their own money, they wont actually buy one. Whereas ford already has a proven portfolio of fun performance cars that the general public will actually buy.

So who has 1 hour to spare for this in-depth review?

sweet car though but seems outrageous

base GT is around $38k msrp... but fully loaded it's something like $55-60k?

and then there is this: 2015 Ford Mustang Roush 610HP Supercharged RARE Fully Loaded

over $95k for a mustang... i just can't wrap my brain around that, roush or not :fulloffuck:

320icar 02-01-2016 12:26 PM

I'm not gonna watch it. Don't want to regret my decision to stick with ST

Thumper, when you say base GT, does that include brembo, recaro, LSD, all that? Or just a boring base mustang but with a 5.0... Cuz really as far as I'm concerned, the only point of a GT is the full track pack. Even if that means going with 2014 to get the good stuff

Track pack is a $3500 option and the recaro's are a $1500 option. I've priced out a base gt with track pack and recaro's and it comes out to about $43000 before taxes. So when he means base, it's literally base. Cloth seats, no fancy audio system or wheels.

base model 6spd manual with no options checked.

i know what you're saying. my 2011 is a track pack, with 3.73 gears, backup camera, and hids (halogens were stock back then). that's it.

check everything off and you get this (2015):

2015 Ford Mustang GT Premium Nav Backup Cam Lthr Perf Pkg 19'

wait for employee discount season, and use your $1000 rebate with your costco membership as well.

Dat colour on the golf R doe :sweetjesus:

Did anyone check out the RS at the auto show? I was super unimpressed.

1. Hate that blue in person
2. Had the same seats as my ST, just embroidered with RS instead
3. Wheels are lackluster (one in auto show)
4. Still just personally not a fan of the facelift.

I'm happy with my ST

You don't like the seats in your ST?

320icar 04-18-2016 03:59 PM

I do like them, but I expect an upgrade for an extra $16,000

Lol I love that blue, I'm sick of seeing Ford Escapes and base model Fiestas with what looks to be the same blue.

While I'm happy with my ST and that it was actually less than half the price of what they're selling the RS for it does leave a bit to be desired.
The Ecoboost motor delivers awesome around town drivability and fuel economy, feels very fast in city speeds but above 5000 RPM it runs out of steam. Fixable with a big turbo but that's something I'm not that interested in exploring at the moment. I'm very curious how the RS will feel on a 4th gear highway pull.

Having owned a Mk6 GTI with DSG that engine definitely felt more linear (stock for stock) despite putting out about the same power. In contrast the STI doesn't make much power down low and has noticeable lag but perhaps might have the best feeling engine on the track?

IMO VW has the best balance for a dual purpose street/track car and seems to do both very well. The R has the best interior, and a price point that is spot on for Canada and the Golf R would be my pick if I felt intrigued to replace my car. The only real question is 6MT or DSG but the car is definitely on my short list for next year.

drove a 2015 STI a few days ago and was pretty impressed......

are the Focus RS and Golf R really that much better...?
