Place to test out aftermarket seats?

Wasn't sure where to start looking, so I thought I'd ask here.

Looking to swap out my driver's seat with something that is bolstered and actually has support in the places where seats usually have support so I don't have to use my left knee pressed up against my door as a bolster when doing hard right cornering :lawl:

Is there a shop in the area that has a good assortment of seats available to sit in to test out? For example, I know Bride seats are meant for smaller skinnier guys, whereas they do also have models which are slightly wider in the waist and thigh area for larger guys like myself (190lb 5'11" 33 waist) so it's hard for one guy to say which seat is better as everyone is sized differently.

Will be using Wedge Engineering brackets which makes a bracket for my Element, haven't decided on the seat yet. Not tracking my car or otherwise doing any kind of driving that necessitates FIA certs on a seat (:ifyouknow:), nor do I have the money for buying thousand dollar seats just for show. Just looking for something with real bolsters that keep me planted in my seat.

car meets :troll:
check out corbeau

Aftermarket seats seem a little overkill for the intended use of a Element. I'd search out something like an RSX seat and get some brackets to fit. Many car manufacturers have some great seats these days.

....

You could always duct tape yourself to the seat reaaaaal tight

Anything is overkill for an Element :lawl: :troll:  :concentrate:

Akinari needs protection from crosswind

Super Autobacs in Japan. LOL!! Seriously though, you can visit Drivers Edge and try out some OMP seats. Most will be fixed back bucket seats though.

Drivers edge?

I think you mean Racers Edge:

RSX/EP3 seats are a direct swap into the Element with 100% use of OEM parts with Element rails/brackets. With that being said, it's difficult to find a used seat in good condition around here. Not paying $200 to ship seats up from Cali

The struggle is real :joy:

2nd Gen RSX Type S leather seats.

First thing that popped up on Craigs. Cheaper then aftermarket. Probably better quality, and won't look completely out of place in an Element. Just kind of out of place. haha

Akinari 01-28-2015 09:45 AM

Meh, been done before.

I used to have Corbeau Forzas, and although getting in and out was a bit more challenging, once seated they were actually very comfortable, not to mention providing very good support. Might be overkill though for an Element :D

jshen 01-28-2015 09:51 AM

Not sure if your interior is cloth or leather. Here is a good alternative if you had cloth.
USDM Type R Acura Integra seats

Not looking for fixed bucket if going aftermarket, still want recline. I have zero bolsters right now anywhere on the stock seats, so really anything would be an improvement even DC5/EP3 seats

Would be more of a headache to make work than anything.

white rocket 01-28-2015 10:31 AM

ITR seats are the same bolstering as regular DC Integra seats, which offer little support. The only difference is the cover and stitching. JDM ITR Recaros FTW!!

jjson 01-28-2015 10:49 AM

Yo don't get rsx type s seats. They may look quite bucket to you but they're so damn wide and the leather makes you slide around in corners. If you want rsx, go for the cloth ones!

Akinari 01-28-2015 11:05 AM

Should get some Bride Ergo II reps :troll:

hud 91gt 01-28-2015 11:35 AM

I don't mind type S seats at all. I have decently wide shoulders though at 190lbs. I don't know what kind of cornering your doing in the element, but if the RSX seat don't suit it. Your doing it wrong. Ha

Akinari 01-28-2015 11:38 AM

Like I said, my seats right now don't have any bolstering, so anything will be an improvement lol

i saw garage five had some seats on the floor (recaros, sti) many months ago right by their office space. they will probably allow you to check them out (mostly used).

went to aj around a month and a half ago. they had a bride vios on the floor, fits snug (im around 33 waist, 168lbs). but not much back support. they also had a recaro dc2 bolted on a g25 wheel at their lounge area. but didn't fit me too well.

sorry, not an aftermarket seat expert, but i think recaro, or bride makes like small, medium, large sizes.

bride cuga and digo seem a wider seat from pics.

i dont know about the 02-04 being 'slippery' but the perforated leather in 05-06 is actually pretty decent.

does your element have heated seats? that's also another good reason to get the DC5 ones.

OT but I always disliked the aesthetics of the element...saw an 07-08 SC from the rear today which kinda changed my impression :notbad:...then saw the front :ohgodwhy:

No heated seats, no side airbags.

In case this changes your mind :troll:
