My lowered AE86 has a hard (read: bumpy) time when I am dailying, can't imagine how much more sketchy it would be on $4000 VIP wheels and a slammed appearance. Don't get me wrong, VIP style is gorgeous IMO but our roads aren't up to it.

Most of Vancouver VIP guys are on air anyways.
Side note though, Seattle guys on coils ride lower and have shittier roads. Just that their cars take a huge toll on condition haha

"style"
majority end up changing back after a year or two because it's just that, a fad.

Japan is huge on USDM in certain circles. I know a couple people personally who have done complete USDM swaps, or even import normal grocery-getter vehicles from the US over to drive, like stock Versas, Odysseys, Pilots, Camrys, Tacomas etc.
Currently going OEM look, I'm lucky because the later model Elements came with black headlight housings and a nicer grille, the SC model came with black chrome taillight housings. Fronts are currently mexiflush and rears are hellaflush on springs , but will soon be hellaflush front and rear with camber all around I just love the slightly cambered, flush look.

It's very difficult to do considering the weak fitment of the wheels, but OEM+ is what I barely see outside of the Euro crowd. It's the first thing I did with my Mazda when I had it because the wheels were cheap, and if I wanted to, could get the right OEM lip kits. Now I'm doing it again, but with the fitment on European cars being more aggressive, its less hassle to pull off.

Then we can have all the JDM front end conversions, and rare body pieces we want, and they can have all the USDM parts they could ever want.

Part of the reason I sold it was I decided I didn't want to spend money on bags, which it deserved, and would have made daily driving much more manageable.
But it was awesome

I wish the VIP scene here was bigger; big body sedans dropped on the ground look pretty cool, especially if they're paired with a tight set of wheels. Too bad the roads are shitty, as mentioned before, so most guys just lower their cars enough to still get around the constant construction and bumpy roads. Cops handing out VIs kinda deters most people from laying frame too; those are just a pain in the butt.
The main group of guys that does come to mind when it comes to dumped sedans are the boys at Serial Nine. Idk how they manage to get around; I think most of their cars are static. |
