Has anyone seen any numbers for the weight of the GT4? I'd be interested to see how much they've shaved off a stock Cayman.

Watch the video. He talks about places where weight is added. Suspension and engine and some where weight is reduced. Wheels etc. I wouldn't be shocked if it was close to the same weight.

oh fuck that, Exige is far better than Boxster.

The Exige will give you more raw driving experience, whereas the Boxster is more of a luxury car.
and I'm sure Exige is lighter too.

Also the Exige will stand out more on the road than the Boxster.

I really don't understand why air-cooled Porsche hold up value so much.

Thats a speedster. Very low production. Air cooled 911s are great cars, but its collectors and speculators driving up the price.

Without trying to sound like "That PCA douchebag", drive some of the more desired Porsches and perhaps you will understand why they are commanding such a premium.

Though there is no doubt speculators and collectors driving the price up, in general it seems as though very few people at this time have any interest in parting with their desired Porsche - 964 RS America or TT, 993 Anything, 997 GT3 etc.

I can't think of any car other than a 997 GT3 RS that I would perhaps consider as a suitable replacement for my GT3... There are other cars I want, but I have to "add to the collection" as parting with my car just doesn't seem like a good option. That I believe is the issue with the Porsche market, those who have the desired cars just have no interest in parting with them.

Porsche 911 is so expensive for what it is.. Singer 911s are like what? $350-$500k?

I'll take a regular 911 for way less money than that.

But based on the topic at hand, this is the most enthusiast driven porsche coming out since the 997 gt3/rs. Hugely exciting, and I hope it paves the way for porsche to give in to the desires of the enthusiast and make a 7 speed Manuel 991 gt3.

You do realize a Rauh Welt is not at all comparable to a Singer 911.

RWB - Overfenders, spoiler, bumpers, coils, wheels, and basic engine mods on a base Porsche 930, 964, 993 that you already own. (And it ain't cheap)

Singer 911 - They take a customer supplied 964 and replace virtually every last piece of the car to create a modern take on a classic Posrche with amazing performance and attention to detail. In the Singer you aren't paying a premium based on it belng a collector car, you are paying a premium for the blood, sweat, tears, design, and parts cost. A phenomenal amount of man hours goes into the building of a Singer 911.

Sometimes Timpo.. you just don't get it. Do you own a car, have you driven any of the super cars you love so much?

Edit: 964 is my fave air-cool Porsche era, and the price hasn't gone totally bananas yet.

Nissan GT-R Premium: $108,500

GT-R can compete with some of the world's renown supercars, whereas Cayman can't.

I'd rather pay 214k for the Cayman than ride in one of those things from the drivers seat. That car is the antithesis of what I want in a car.

In the Evo video I don't recall hearing that production would be limited to a specific number of units, but it would only be limited to how fast they can build them to meet the demand. Does anyone have any credible source to suggest a production limit?

It was mentioned on a forum I frequent by one of Porsche's top salesmen on the continent, however, he has also said they seem to be somewhat wishy washy on confirming it. I honestly don't think anyone really knows for sure yet other than the people deciding it.

I don't think Timpo gets it, haha.

I read a lot of threads on gt4 on rennlist, there's really no confirmed # on production. since its a GT car, it will be harder to get than a regular cayman for sure and somewhat of a limited run. no dealer knows how many allocation they will get, they will get what they get. If you want one, best thing to do is put your name on the list with deposit, wait and hope for the best.

I don't know why Boxsters are so expensive.. to me, Boxster is kinda like Mustang and Camaro, something you see on the road everyday & everywhere.

I'd rather have a Lotus and it will probably be more fun.
