What was your first motorcycle?

Taking some inspiration from the auto thread of similar title.

What was it?
How long did you own it?
What did you love about it?
What did you hate about it?
Why did you sell it?
Did you drop/crash it?
Any other interesting facts?
Post pics.

(didn't include the sex question cause I would it imagine being very hard on a bike)

I'll start.

What was it? 2009 Suzuki GS500F

How long did you own it? 2 years

What did you love about it? Easy to learn on, upright seating position, more power than a 250

What did you hate about it? Engine vibrations through the handle bars felt as though I was holding on to a pair of vibrators.

Why did you sell it? Because of previous question

Did you drop/crash it? No

Any other interesting facts? Bought it new with a $1000 discount

What was it?
- technically my first "bike" was a 200x honda ruckus.

How long did you own it?
- id say about 4-5 months

What did you love about it?
- everything pretty much. amazing on gas, crazy cheap to insure, no class 6 needed and could ride any time. you could build it like lego and the aftermarket is crazy huge. only thing limiting you is money and imagination

What did you hate about it?
- it wasn't the fastest. but with me (200lbs) could still get to 75km/h which is plenty for the city

Why did you sell it?
- to put the cash towards a downpayment on my focus st

Did you drop/crash it?
- the kickstand smushed into the hot pavement once and i caught it on the way down. no scratches but it did end up breaking one of my bar end mirrors.

Any other interesting facts?
- bought it with some light mods. loved it, sold it. if i had extra space i would totally buy another one without too much of a hesitation. sure it wasn't that fast especially compared to my other two bikes. but it was so much crazy fun and care free-ness. if i bought one, i would probably sway to a honda grom.

when i got it, and when i sold it.

What did you love about it? Honda & Appearence
What did you hate about it? Hard on the hands/wrists
Why did you sell it? Still own it
Did you drop/crash it? No
Any other interesting facts? Bought it last year as my first bike. Took a riding course and put 12,000km on it last year.

What was it? 2004 Kawasaki Zx6r

How long did you own it? Still own it. One year so far.

What did you love about it? The exhaust sound

What did you hate about it? So far so good.

Why did you sell it? Still loving it, will probably sell it this summer.

Did you drop/crash it? Yup, once in the rain. Locked up my breaks trying to stop for a yellow light.

Any other interesting facts? It was my first vehicle before buying a car. Also found a bagel stuffed between my rear tire and suspension.

What was it?

US 2007 Honda CBR600RR

How long did you own it?

Less than a year.

What did you love about it?

High-revving, (low) comfortable seat, comfortable ergonomics, fuel gauge, terrific fit-and-finish...

What did you hate about it?

Fun on the highway and the open roads... lack of torque meant city riding wasn't always a joy.

Why did you sell it?

I didn't and I wouldn't have - it was stolen.

Did you drop/crash it?

When I first got it I was walking it across the underground parkade in my building and I still wasn't use to the weight and I let it fall over (away from me) ... fortunately the original owner had frame sliders on it. Zero damage and as a bonus I learned how to pick a bike up off the ground.

Any other interesting facts?

-his name was JJ ("Jay Jay")

Post pics.

Don't mind if I do!

What was it? 95 Kawasaki ZX-6R

How long did you own it? Just over 1 year

What did you love about it? Everything, because I was finally on 2 wheels.

What did you hate about it? Nothing, nostalgia won't let me remember anything bad about it.

Why did you sell it? I always wanted an R6, but I promised myself that I would learn on something more "tame" for 1 year before buying one.

Did you drop/crash it? Dropped it twice. Once while waiting to make a right turn, as I proceeded, bicyclist decided to go through the cross-walk and I had to stop suddenly while turning, laid her down doing 5km/hour. Second time while stradling her in a parking lot, gas or oil under my foot caused me to slip and laid her over while standing still. Both times no damage.

Any other interesting facts? Bought and sold her for the exact same price a little over a year later. Would totally buy her back if I ever came across it again (and if I had the funds available.)

How long did you own it?
Around a year and a bit

What did you love about it?
I loved the torque it had down low

What did you hate about it?
Nothing really, cept for the fact its a 500 and I jumped into the next insurance bracket ... $$$

Why did you sell it?
I mean its a good bike and all, but I was itching for a change up. And I was in the same insurance bracket as a 600cc bike so...

Did you drop/crash it?
nope

Any other interesting facts?
I bought it brand new from stealership!

What did you hate about it? Not great in the city.

Did you drop/crash it? No, I've been lucky that way so far.

Not my bike but similar to this one minus the red stripes was all black with tinted screen.

What was it? 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R

How long did you own it? 2 years

What did you love about it? shiny and red. nice engine. comfortable for a tall guy and not too leaned over.

What did you hate about it? shit suspension.

Why did you sell it? got bored of it and decided to get a dual sport.

Did you drop/crash it? yes, twice. once at a pitt meadows "track day", it was a low speed lowside. second time was on the street coming out of a 2nd gear hairpin and lost the rear end and went down.

Any other interesting facts? I spent far too much money on fun parts for it. I got a corbin seat, givi side cases, different bars, rear sets, and a bunch of other things I can't remember. It was a bit dumb. And I bought it new which was a lame decision, especially for a first bike.

(didn't include the sex question cause I would it imagine being very hard on a bike)
Haha I'm kind of regretting adding that question because a few people didn't seem to like it much!

Lot of sportbikes in here.

What was it? 1972 Yamaha GT80

How long did you own it? It's been in the family since new.

What did you love about it? It's not the kind of bike that takes itself seriously. Its two-stroke, 120lbs, loves wheelies, can hit 100km/h. It's probably the easiest possible bike to ride, ever. Also it's yellow, like a banana (HUEHUEHUE)

What did you hate about it? Riding it on the street is a really good way to get squished by a [INSERT ASIAN WOMAN-PILOTED LARGE BLACK SUV HERE].

Why did you sell it? Still have it, although the list of people that have given me offers is absurdly long.

Did you drop/crash it? Yep.

Any other interesting facts? It has less than 600kms on it. Mostly from me.

Wow cool! Not many people keep things that long, that's neat

Why hasn't it really been ridden though?

Thanks! I don't ever plan to sell it so it'll stick around for a very long time.

I put on the hilarious OEM signals sometime after the photo was taken so it's now road-ready.

Combination of clogged petcock and no title registration but it will definitely be sorted out for this season

What was it?

2005 Suzuki GSX-R 750

How long did you own it?

Just a bit under year

What did you love about it?

The low end torque, comfy ergos and the look and sound of hotbodies undertail exhaust + eliminator kit

What did you hate about it?

The immense heat under the seat due to the bike not being designed for an undertail exhaust you suffer when you ride

Why did you sell it?

Lost my license the same year for being an dumbass on highway 91

Did you drop/crash it?

Nope never.

Any other interesting facts?

This was a rebuilt title, stumbled across it on this very forum actually. I was initially looking for a fuel injected 600cc after riding school but couldn't find one for a decent price. Bike rode straight though, and motor was solid.

What was it? 2009 SV650

What did you love about it? I felt it had just the right amount of power so that I wouldn't get bored of it or kill myself. Very forgiving (it has ABS).

What did you hate about it? It has over 130,000km not. I put about 10km myself. I'd love a less beat up bike but it was cheap and something to learn on.

Why did you sell it? Still have it. Looking at upgrading to something in the same class.

Did you drop/crash it? I dropped it about 3 times from standstill. I lowslided once into a poor old mans lawn. Bike and rider were OK. Lesson learned.

Any other interesting facts? Again it has 130,000km. about 120k were put on in 4 years of ownership then the original owner bought a CBR1000. It has had some great use.

Agreed! I haven't ridden one, but I sat on one back to back with an R6 and it was like night and day.

i couldn't stand the RR, always felt off balance. (felt like i was leaning too far forward) haven't tried an R6 so i can't compare.

Bought it in 2010, still have it
What did you love about it?
Sound, stance, power, colors, it was all perfect.
What did you hate about it?
At the beginning, hated the stance. It was hard to learn on, now its fine
Why did you sell it?
Haven't sold it yet, but I probably might/will by spring this year.
Did you drop/crash it?
Yes, dropped it at a stand still at the stop sign on the first day. No crashes.
Any other interesting facts?
Bought it with only 700km on it. Now it only has roughly 2300km on it....

What was it? 2001 Ninja 500R

How long did you own it? Less than a whole summer I think?

What did you love about it? Not much, but it was my first wheels, bought it for familiarity since PRS gave me one for the road rides.

What did you hate about it? Ugly, slow, crappy suspension, crappy brakes

Why did you sell it? Bought a SV650S, which I ended up hating (got a 600F4i after that, which I loved)

Did you drop/crash it? Nope! Previous owner did something to it, I think there was a hole on the right side fairings.

Any other interesting facts? When I sold it, lots of n00bs came over, but this one short kid was acting super cocky, swings his leg over it in the parkade and I was holding the handlebars, just able to stop him and the bike from falling over into the front of my car and a mega-expensive repair bill for me since he probably would have just taken off.

What was it? Honda 50 scooter

How long did you own it? I didn't. It was my father's. He had it stored in our garage. I found out where he kept the key. When no one was around, I'd take it out and tear around the neighbourhood - no plates, no insurance. I was twelve.

What did you love about it? It was easy to ride, and kind of felt like flying.

What did you hate about it? I wasn't supposed to be riding it.

Why did you sell it? See answer regarding "own".

Did you drop/crash it? Yes. I quickly got over confident on it, and let it slide out from under me on the gravel in the alley going back to the garage. I tore up the right fairing (?), and my right knee and elbow.

Any other interesting facts? My old man didn't beat the crap out of me. He just made me work off payment for the repairs.

What was it? 2005 Honda CBR600F4i

How long did you own it? 2 years

What did you love about it? More upright riding position than other 600s and just as fast

What did you hate about it? Previous owner binned it and didn't replace the fairings so the repairs were really obvious. Shifting was sometimes notchy

Why did you sell it? Got bored with it and decided to upgrade to a litrebike

Did you drop/crash it? No crash but a handful of low speed drops. Thank god for frame sliders!

Any other interesting facts? Managed to sell it for the same price I paid
