Any web designer/developer

Anyone in this field full time?
What is the demand in terms of job?

Are you looking to just make websites or do you have any experience building web applications as well?

I do full time front-end development for a web application. I'm not too sure what the demand in Vancouver is now but when I was working there the demand seemed pretty high. I'm not too sure what the demand is now though.

My girlfriend is a fulltime web developer who works predominantly with Wordpress. She left her job working for an agency in December and had about 4 offers by the time she accepted a job in January. Interestingly, almost all of them, including the one she took, is a contract position rather than full time employment.

FWIW both she and I were looking for employment at the same time, I'm a designated accountant, and we found that although there were way more potential jobs I could be qualified for, she had a much higher percentage of her applications go to a job interview.

Hope that helps
Mark

demand is insane. some factors:

are you coming in with a CS background?
are you a desginer/artist as well?
good with Photoshop?
Can you do backend development? (databases, servers)
Do you know how the internet works? (http, DNS, security)

I am an IT recruiter here in Vancouver and right now, the demand is very high for both front and backend developers, contract and perm.
