I can't see Apple as a car company.

It doesn't have either that sex appeal to either men or women in this industry and as someone already mentioned, it's an industry with very low margins whose business model relies on services and parts.

I can see Apple becoming a platform provider for the the central console because TBH, all car manufacturers suck at making their own. It took BMW a few tries on its iDrive and it's still barely useable. And other major brands are that much ahead either if not worse.

And by having an appstore kinda thing to sell soft stuff, that's where the money is.

Patch/update sometimes required before you can drive
Battery life is totally random
Impossible to work on yourself
