Looking to buy a 2018 Ody, any dealer/sales recommendation?

mk1freak 09-05-2017 09:32 PM

Been debating on going with the mb metris since I really like the tall boxy look. Aside from reviews online anyone have experience with them? Hell I'm even considering the transit cuz then it'll mean less shit to lug around with four kids, getting kinda sick of all the shit the mama packs for a few hr trip :fulloffuck:

Hehe,
YMMV but I used Richmond Honda for mine. Ken was great, but Ricky is also a good guy just grind the fuck outta them until you get what you want.

When we bought a new Civic at the beginning of the year, Henry at Richmond Honda helped us secure a good price and provided some great customer service. However, with the Ody being all new, I doubt you'd be able to get much movement (if any) on price.

PM'd you with my contact at OpenRoad. It is getting to the end of the year so there are deals to be had.

Well looks like I'm jumping into the minivan bandwagon.

Looking at some Odysseys and Sienna's that's about 4 to 6 years old, god damn they hold their resale value.

:ahwow: You gonna be a pops?

Yes, minivans hold their value, except for the dodge grand caravan and maybe the Kia Sedona.

Finance the new 2018 Odyssey. It's quite the badass of all vans :ilied:

Haven't purchased any vehicles from car match auto group, but they have a few minivans for sale :

(yea, their website's domain name doesn't match up with the vehicle listing lol)

I think only Toyota offers 4WD if that matters.

[edit]chrysler pacifica is not awd :(

Traum 01-25-2018 10:20 AM

C&D recently ranked the Chrysler Pacifica #1 in the category -- ie. over the Sienna and Odyssey:

https://www.caranddriver.com/compari...omparison-test

Obviously, I doubt they have considered long term reliablity as a ranking criteria, and you can't do anything to convince me that a Chrysler product will be more reliable than a Toyota / Honda vehicle in the same segment. But I suppose it can't hurt to at least consider the Pacifica as a potential purchase.

Also, when used Sienna and Odyssey are holding up value so well, why not consider purchasing a new one instead?

donjalapeno 01-25-2018 10:22 AM

This video basically explains why the Odyssey doesn't have all wheel drive even though Honda has a pretty good AWD system.

It does however have a "Snow" button that helps reduce wheel spin.

Type R Nammer I can email you some options I have on the lot. PM me your email if interested.

supposed to be really nice and posh... however i can't vouch for its reliability after looking at the history of chrysler products overall.

I don't see an AWD option anywhere on the site but maybe I'm blind. Either way, who would you trust to actually get you and your family where you want to go? I wouldn't want to be doing a road trip with my fingers crossed the whole time, because if you've got a van full of your family and all their crap that's the absolute last time you want to end up stuck on a road trip.

you are correct. i was reading an outdated article saying it would be offered with awd.

according to this article from 2016, chrysler decided not to offer awd:

Exclusive: All-Wheel Drive Chrysler Pacifica Cancelled

Quote:

It’s likely Fiat Chrysler scrapped the idea of an all-wheel drive Pacifica due to lack of demand. The Toyota Sienna is the only minivan currently on sale that offers all-wheel drive, and it’s not a very popular option.

“Only Toyota offers AWD in its van but it’s not a big volume seller,” Vasilek told Wards in May.

So for the parents here, how important is it to have a rear entertainment system?

thumper 01-31-2018 07:32 AM

my brother just straps an ipad to the back of the seats in his van...

Very! For us anyway.. my boy doesn’t travel well and without his shows I don’t think we’d take him anywhere.

It depends I think. Because technology is constantly changing, I think using iPads or iPhones is way more convenient. When something breaks with the rear entertainment it could cost way more money than to replace a iPad.

It might not be often that you will use the rear entertainment system for local city driving.

Alby 01-31-2018 02:48 PM

my kids are fine without the use of the rear entertainment system, for city driving anyways. really varies depending on your kid(s)

fsy82 01-31-2018 03:45 PM

I like the rear entertainment system because it keeps the kids quiet while driving...lol..and i can listen to my jams while they have their headphones on..lol

J-Chow 01-31-2018 10:47 PM

When I picked up my 2015 Sienna SE, I was set on adding the tech pack with rear entertainment system. Mind you my kids are 3 and 2, that system saved me from temper tantrums..... and I meant from me, not them lol.

The nice thing is you can split the screen to two different videos, so one can be watching dvds and/or videos via sd card, while the other one can play video games if you have a system to setup.

heleu 02-01-2018 07:35 AM

I'm never going to let my kids sit in other people's vans with entertainment systems.

Once they find out it exists, they're going to demand it!!!!

ssjGoku69 02-01-2018 08:14 AM

The kids are so glued to the screen!
How long are the trips with your kids to use those screens? 1 hr+ trips?
