There might be a TSB/Recall (whichever it was), on transmission problems with the Odyssey (certain years only, on the 4th gen). I think it involved updating the PCM with ATF replacement. I haven't seen any transmission problems on these odysseys, yet.

Won't be back to work for a while, so I cannot confirm..

A 7 person SUV could also work, but don't expect to put anyone in the 3rd row comfortably along with cargo in the trunk
The new Atlas would fit the bill. I'm 6'0"(182cm) and I sat comfortably in the third row. I got passed by one with a VR6 and it sounds great.

The 2019 transit connect will have a 1.5L 'ecoblue' diesel engine.

I gave the Mazda5 some consideration cause it comes in manual. All my DDs since I got my license have been manual transmission.
We will be driving grandparents so we realize a full-size minivan with at least 7 seats is a must.

Lease return on my (or should I say wife's ) 14 odyssey touring happening next mth 4 years in with only 60k.
Fortunately for future owners it's only been used as a kid hauler and completely bone stock
Not sure what to get next but with the kids older and the youngest twins about to transition to boosters I'm debating on getting the pilot or something similar.

Fucking headache, getting an 18 odyssey touring in burgundy this Friday . The vans nice and the new 10 spd transmission drives so smooth.(took the demo to 80 Down 7 road with the sales manager in the VANVVVVVVVTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKK works great ) Too bad my oem all weather mats don't fit in front but the trunk one does fit lol. So many cool new features, cabin talk sucks ass, built in wireless charger in center console is a bonus. Wifi is nice touch but not at the subscription rates Honda charges. Stupid how the ex-l can only choose nav OR DVD entertainment. I'm getting a great rate but still... For what I'm paying I should be getting roadhead anytime Im driving the fucking thing. They got rid of the little fridge in front. I'll let you guys know the differences once I take possession.
I really wanted the pilot... But I lost once I even thought of it....

Another note, I'm really liking the new style of side to side sliding midrow seats(once middle seat is removed, that heavy pos) and the media screen that replaces the traditional speedometer is pretty cool. @typer if I end up taking the OEM all weather mats out they'll by up for grabs if you don't have them already, it should fit

mini vans are actually my fav vehicles after my primary sports car. They are useful beyond belief, I always had a secondary beater minivan, currently a cheap dodge caravan, and there's always a use for it if not use as a winter beater and store my sports car. As long as you have a place to park it, I would always recommend a cheap used minivan as a secondary vehicle.

Alrighty, contemplating between the Sienna SE and the Odyssey EX-L RES or Touring (yes Touring is a bit more money). The Sienna is a dinosaur with its old platform and dated interior.

Anyone on the forum with experience with the new 5th gen Odyssey? I read there's quite a bit of bugs to be worked out but of course that is a small sample.

thanks!

for odyssey pick the option level you're comfortable with (ex-l pretty good options already), I have an 18 touring and aside from rear entertainment I don't need half the shit it comes with, and I use maps on my phone hah... then again it's what the wife wanted

I have a 15' Sienna SE w/Tech Pack. So far, around 53,xxxkm and still running good. The newer Sienna's have increased horsepower and Entune software and a few minor added features.

My minivan does it's job. Move a lot of people, and move cargo.
Just be cautious, the Sienna SE model seems a little low on the height, so it sometimes scrapes parking stall curbs. My front bumper has seen better days.

There is some clicking / rattle noises, that I can't pin point as to what it is, and neither can the techs. Something loose but very difficult to replicate for techs to acknowledge.

If I were in for a newer minivan, I'd put my money on an Odyssey.

Is the 3rd row seats up or folded down? There is a known issue of the 3rd row Sienna seats clicking and rattling over bumps. The latch is what rattles. If the 3rd row is folded into the floor, you won't hear that sound. I used some electrical tape to tape onto the bars where the seat latches to to reduce the rattling. Just be careful to not use too much and ensure the seat still latches in completely.

There is a TSB for this, but the sound will come back in a few months.

What do you guys think of the Pacifica?

When I drove it, it was just amazing. Some of the best features of the segment but could be a reliability concern.

I will never purchase another domestic minivan. Once you compare domestic with import in these things the quality differences are night and day. After selling my Grand Caravan I was thinking of an Odyssey but where I live we need AWD so I went with a Pilot instead. The Sienna had an AWD one that the wife had many years ago but not sure if they still offer it.

Berz out.

New for this year, ALL models of Sienna can be equipped with AWD. I would have loved AWD on my Sienna SE if the option was available back in 2014.
