| Junk Yard Warning....
I went by JK Japanese Used & New Auto Parts Ltd in Mitchell Island to find a certain part.
They have buckets of sawdust on site, and there was sawdust on transmissions.
I'm going to presume they are packing these transmissions with sawdust as a last ditch effort.
Anyways.... Buyer Beware....

More likely that they are using it as spill cleanup and oil absorbent. JK offers a 3 month warranty on all transmissions, so highly unlikely that they are purposely damaging stock to try and make a quick buck.
It would make ZERO sense to put sawdust in a used transmission that is out of the car and can't be road tested. 1) used transmissions are usually drained of oil for shipping. 2) You can't feel transmission problems "on the bench", so tampering with the fluid isn't going to provide any sales benefit. 3) Tampering or hiding problems only benefits a seller who deals on a "as-sold" basis, without any warranty.
Regardless, anyone who buys a used engine or transmission without pulling the drain plug before purchase gets what they deserve!

JK Japanese is still in business? If they're even vaguely related to the JK Japanese engine importer I dealt with several years back stay as far away from those idiots as possible. The motor they sent my friend was missing a pile of small parts, the motor they sent me had a completely seized head and came with the wrong ECU and the wrong trans. Luckily I was able to get my money back but not after a hell of a lot of phone calls, and I lost out on the shipping costs.

I think OP doesn't understand that sawdust (like kitty litter) is very common to clean up spills.
You are implying that they put sawdust INSIDE of a used transmission? Wtf

sawdust is great for transmissions!
have you never heard of drybearings or dry lube? way less heat and friction.

What the fuck.
How does packing transmissions with saw dust represent any sort of last ditch effort.
If they were doing anything with transmissions filled with saw dust and a ditch, my only assumption would be abandoning them in a ditch on the side of the highway.

In OP's defence there is a sawdust trick that used to work in transmissions as a last ditch effort but it's very old school and probably doesn't apply to today's(last 20 years) technology.
I've heard horror stories of JK in the past but have no reason to ever go there anyway.
