best way to clean spoke wheels. Wheel Woolies?
 

Hey Guys,

Got new rims last year and sick of spending close to an hour cleaning them by hand with a wash mitt. Bought the meguiairs wheel cleaner and a cheap bristle brush from canadian tire which work ok but not good enough still.

I was looking at ordering the wheel woolies kit and possibly sonax wheel cleaner. Not sure if this is my best bet. Anything else you would recommend? And any idea where to purchase locally. I can only find the woolies kit online on US websites.

Wheel woolies work great if there's enough clearance between your rotor/caliper and wheel. If you don't have much room, Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush's have a thinner spine and are able to reach into tighter spaces.

For wheels I use:

Iron-X (get the lemon scent if you're looking at getting this. The regular is straight up the worst smelling substance on earth and I truly mean that)
Large Wheel Woolie for the inner barrel
CG Lug nut brush
Curved hard bristle brush for tire sidewalls
Wash mitt for wheel faces

It's a bit overkill but dirty wheels are my pet peeve.

I have Enkei EKM3s (EKM3 | Enkei Wheels) which are a lot of work to clean.

I wax them every 6 months with Collinite 845 which lets me use just soap and water to clean them rather than harsher wheel cleaners (not 100% true but close enough). I use a regular 18" wheel cleaning brush to do the work then I wipe down with a microfibre cloth.

Wheels like ours are work no matter how you cut it.

If you want to be bad ass have them Opticoated.

i just wax up my wheels often. pre soak with windex quick before washing them with soap and water. a good degreaser like simple green works well the biggest thing is just to wash often, once brake dust starts pitting into the rim you stand no chance

^Very good point. I forgot to add that I apply CG Jetseal/Colonite845 (any long lasting wax/sealant/coating will do) once a year and makes regular cleaning much easier.
