Vandalism of Modded Cars in Vancouver

Some of you may have already seen the pictures I posted on Facebook of my car targeted and vandalised in my own driveway on Friday night, but for those who haven't I'll share them here:

https://scontent-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...cf&oe=55DC1EFC
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...fd8c2536b4d9a1
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...94afd9889af111
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...df016c2f284dca
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...20d734c6d36c75
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...4013f9d66da537
https://scontent-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...58&oe=55DE117A
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...96de0aa695d3a0

I don't know why anyone would target and vandalise my car to such extent. I don't make enemies and I can't think of anyone who would hate me enough to destroy something I love so much.

Apparently I'm not the only one who's been hit recently, and there seems to be a trend in either a single person or a group of people targeting and vandalising "modded" cars around the Greater Vancouver area.

I don't have photos of the other cars hit, but one of my friends sent me this surveillance photo of someone who was about to vandalise one of their club members' cars.

If anyone has any related information/pictures, please post in this thread or let me know.

My car is loud, but not that loud, I still have mufflers. I generally keep it down in my own neighbourhood.

My house in Richmond, near Garden City and Blundell.

Were you the one that posted the dash cam video of your parked car at Lansdowne Mall and had two shit heads spitting on your car? It was last summer and it was a member of the Vancouver FT86 club also a white 86.

This happened when you weren't home or you're just a deep sleeper?

Sorry it happened...modifying your car attracts attention good and bad. Try parking in the garage overnight from now on.

Nah, that was DaJo at Lansdowne.

I was home and heard everything, but I couldn't see anything outside.

Genuine question, but why did you remove the stock car alarm?

Must have been really fast, that sucks man, hopefully the guys get caught. Pieces of shit really need to burn for doing this to someones property with their hard earned cash.

The car doesn't come with an alarm, and if it does then it doesn't work.

Well god damn. Richmond is usually better than this :( will keep a sharp eye in my neighbourhood. Lots of modded cars around (4 & bridgeport)

bcuzracecarz 04-13-2015 10:53 PM

That's brutal, hate reading shit like this, don't know why but there's been so much of this crap happening lately. You have any idea what the repair costs are or what the plan is from now on?

Mikoyan 04-13-2015 10:59 PM

Remember this guy?

Man jailed for keying more than 100 cars in Burnaby, New Westminster - BC | Globalnews.ca

VANCOUVER – A man has now been jailed for keying cars in two Lower Mainland cities, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

Soo Yo Kim has been sentenced to three months jail and three years of probation.

He is well known to police because he pleaded guilty in 2006 to keying cars in Port Coquitlam. In 2005, the then 31-year-old was the prime suspect in about a thousand car-keying cases across Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam.

IF he went to jail soon after the trial, he may be out now. Maybe he upped his game.

Will insurance cover this? Presumably it falls under comprehensive coverage?

BoostedBB6 04-13-2015 11:13 PM

Seeing as you were the only vehicle damaged during this (im sure there are others parked outside in your area) its rather obvious that it was a targeted event.

As quiet or un-annoying as you may feel you are, others may not feel that way. I have seen people followed home by others for going to fast around a corner, or sliding around on, going to fast, etc etc.
Given the type of car, the facts its modified the way it is, I would not be surprised if the person/s that did this were in fact someone you may have pissed off with your driving/car at some point (knowing or un-knowing).

It is not often you see a car like this being so maliciously damaged by a random person because if that were the case then I would be hearing about this on a daily basis but thats just not the case.

I don't know, but I'm told 7 other cars have been hit recently from a local car club.

jackp0t 04-13-2015 11:30 PM

OP your not the only one
Apperently 5-6 cars from that group statues 105 also got vandalized
(engine oil dumped on the car , slashed tires , broken side mirrors , and glass)

jpark 04-13-2015 11:33 PM

Im more surprised that you didnt hear the guy beating the shit out of the car on your driveway. I can imagine it being pretty loud.

toehook 04-13-2015 11:34 PM

Did it happen in the middle of the night?

zilley 04-13-2015 11:55 PM

I dont know how nobody in the neighbourhood came out, unless its 5 guys doing it together okay it may take less than 5 seconds.

twitchyzero 04-14-2015 12:01 AM

I'm assuming in certain parts of Richmond, neighbours would close their blinds instead of a confrontation. If you haven't already done so, ask neighbours if they saw anything and try and get a description.

that's why i always circle the neighborhood first at night to see if anyone's following me then head home if i cut in front of someone suddenly to get to left lane and make a left since some asshole drivers speed up for no reason when you want to signal and merge.

Seems like this was targeted. Someone probably is annoyed of the drivers. I go through richmond often and always see douchey drivers in their suped up cars tailing each other and cutting people off and revving engine at lights

On a slightly unrelated note, good luck finding any witnesses if you're driving around in Richmond, particularly late(r) in the evening. When drivers in Richmond witness an accident, instead of slowing down to offer assistance, they all speed away at light speed :rukidding: It seems the general consensus for those c-lais and other Chinese drivers is to avoid any kind of confrontation or situation that would require them to attempt to speak English.

Speaking from experience.
