Felt like there was a need to have a thread dedicated to wheels to prevent clutter on other threads
This thread would be to answer questions such as:
What wheels do you like? What wheels do you have? What's your opinion on cheaper wheels or more expensive wheels? Cast or forged? Will this fit on my car? and etc.
I'll start. I like old-school styled wheels, such as Watanabes, Longchamps, etc.
Deep dish VIP-styled wheels are very nice in my opinion as well. Wanted to get a legitimate set of these back when I still had a Lexus.
Currently rocking XXR 537s on the CRX... I really like the old school look to them. I like the step lip and the fairly simplistic design of the wheel itself
Next set of wheels for me would be something like this. Love the step lips
how about wheels that we have owned? imma photo dump cuz i can. i have owned a lot. if i had more space i'd keep buying them for fun. had to get rid of practically all of them a while ago. only have the teddy bears now.
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

My favourite wheels of all time. Azev A on my 95 corrado
Fell into the VW trap and got rid of them for RS's
Borbet type A in 18x8.5 on my mk5. These were probably one of five sets in this size in north america. DSC_0367 by westophervan, on Flickr
Got rid of them for some Rays Victrix 2 pc. wheels. Very rare again. Were 5x114.3 redrilled DSC_0432 by westophervan, on Flickr
Rare set of DP motorsport super cup 3 piece made by work back in the late 90s. Apparently only about 20 sets made it to NA. DSC_0141 by westophervan, on Flickr
Got rid of them for stock wheels. I may get a set of AC schnitzer type 1s next.
I think I'm over the "wheel phase" though as I have no interest in the stance thing anymore. I like OEM plus with some drivability enhancements more than cosmetics now. Driving is too fun to worry about every little pothole.

the e28? was too slammed. ripped the driveshaft centre bearing/support apart and tore apart the underbody of the car. dismantled for parts. it lives on in a bunch of buddies e28's
m systems with turbine covers. 17x8, forged, turbines suck in air to cool brakes. look weird but i love them.
Always had a thing for R32 GTR OEM wheels, which just happen to fit on my Element and I managed to get a good deal on a pristine set with centre caps intact when the opportunity came around. Forged magnesium and 7kg per wheel, awesome!
Love OZ Futuras
Liked the Gram Lights 57Optimise, not many people rocking them anymore though
Regamaster Desmond Evos look awesome on certain cars
Wide and low offset BBS RI-Ds (BBS Japan wheels) are so fucking sexy
And of course I love Watanabes as well, especially the Type-R style with big lips. Planning to get an ND Miata hopefully before the end of the year depending on my finances, and I'm actually looking to stick some legitimate Watanabes on the car. These wheels aren't cheap though, especially the Type-Rs which are around $700/wheel.
But I also like the Watanabe lookalikes Rota makes, the RKR, they look awesome in the 15x8 +0 as well as their larger 18" offerings.

Work Meister S1R and S1. Getting a bit tired of the silver face, might do something crazy and stupid in the near future and have them painted teal or something. I've dreamed of having these wheels ever since I got the car, with inspiration from the red widebody devil wing MR2 that is Internet famous.
Next set I wanna try something wider, something like a 17x9 and 17x10. I'd love CCW Classics with custom offsets and such, but I can't afford that shit Most likely gonna be Regamasters or something that has decent lip.
I'd also love to get a set for the GSR, but we'll see how budgeting goes. Something that's old school would be cool, like meshies or Longchamps. Plus, snails is already rocking the Whistlers on his DA, so I can't do that anymore
I like simple wheels that are light weight. For example, what i'll be putting on my car at some point; Forgestar CF5 18x10 in Brilliant Silver. Forged, 20lbs/wheel, and remarkably inexpensive.
and in response to thread.. my only preference for wheels are that they're not blatant rip offs of another design.... i dont support companies that try to make a quick buck by copying designs.. that's all!
ASA IS1:
not sure why, but the "licensed by BBS" printed on the centrecap made me love them more
then I bought replica LM's cause I love the look and hate the price.

Nice thread. Wheels are my thang for sure. I like to collect them; for no real reason at all.
I'm pretty partial to Volk monoblocks. At one point I had the quad-fecta of Monoblocks(CE28N, TE37, RE30, SE37K) but sold my RE's to Noran last year. Still have the other 3 sets. Also a set of SW388 which I'll be rocking soon. The Desmond design is as timeless as they come. I spent a lot of time browsing through ICB's passed wheels they sold. Lots of cool JDM stuff in there. RC Stark II's and III's are awkwardly awesome. I'd love to find a set in 16x7 or 8. Love Borbets, love ATS Cups, love BBS, love Works. So many wheels I'd love to have, so little money
As for the real vs fake debate; it's ok as long as you're not faking the funk. RAYS decals on Grids. Fuck that shit makes me mad. I've had a couple sets of Rota's and they were fine. One GT3 was bent right outta the box though so I just got a quick discount from the seller at the time. You get what you pay for so as long as you're realistic in your expectations you'll be fine. If you are just going for a look then by all means buy what you can afford. I like strength and lightweight so I choose Volk and they have never disappointed
