Phone got Stolen. What steps to take?

The gf got her Galaxy note 3 stolen. She didnt have a passcode or lock on it, I dont think she has the google android device manager either or any sort of third party security app. Her biggest concern is the contents on the phone, I dont know if a remote wipe is possible?

Already called up the provider to stop the phone, but Im worried they might lock phone linked to the account (which was the phone she got 3 years ago), not the one that she got stolen.

Any tips on precautions to take or what to do? Thanks

LOl all of your gf's pics and her friends' pic will be posted online pretty soon (or any nude pics too.). All her friends info (phone number, what's app, wechat, QQ, E-mail, FB) will be now in the hands of a stranger.

I would suggest changing all her password NOW! E-mails, fb, wechat, online banking info, credit card password and report it to all of her bank, credit card credit report. Tell all of her friends so they are aware of this. Oh and next time put a PIN or some sort of lock on the phone and have a security app on her new phone so she can remote wipe the phone.

Basically the person who have your gf phone can pretend to your gf now and have all of her info.

And that is why I put a pin or passcode on every phone. Even my mom does that and she hates it (always forgot her PIN)

The last time I lost my galaxy s4, I had Cerberus installed.

I didn't have any security lock and I dropped it at a club. The dude that picked it up didn't turn it on for a whole week. I send a command called emergency mode, it emails me whenever a different sim is inserted into the phone.

When the dude turned on the phone, I got an email containing his phone number, location, provider, and sim number, I think some serial id too.

I then locate the phone and he lives near me. I send a command to take a picture with the front camera whenever he touch the screen, it took a picture of his room's ceiling. The command I should have used are take picture without notifying and record video so I can spy on his ass.

I think he noticed it and turned off the phone afterwards. I called him but he didn't answer. I texted him and he denied having my phone. So I went to his house, knocked on his door but no answer. Called the police and reported but they said they can't do anything about it.

In the end, I just call Rogers and lock the IMEI. Had I played it smart I would have gotten a picture of him and be on a stealth mission for a long time. I could have done damage to his property but why bother, so I decided to leave it at that.

Anyways, if you read all that, Cerberus is a fucking awesome app, costs $5ish for a lifetime license and it's well worth it. You can install it on multiple devices and hide it from the drawer, only recalling it by dialing a special code, so thieves wouldn't even know it's installed. There are so many commands and a web client to control it. You can even use SMS commands to control it, but I have yet to figure that out. It didn't worked for me the last time I lost/left my phone at my friend's house.

Best of luck to you. You only learn more every time you lose a phone.

Yea I was the first one to say shes retarded for not having security software or a passcode. Now she fucking learns lol

Is the android's imei block on carriers as good as the icloud lock? I know the Big 3 say that yea we have a blacklist, but how reliable is it? I know the iphones icloud lock makes it virtually unusable to anyone who steals it.

once its blacklisted you wont be able to use it in Canada/US but it can be sold for use overseas.

Not necessarily.

Here are all the providers participating the IMEI lock program. If a provider is not on that list, IMEI locked phones will still work with that provider.
