GT-Rs, even a used one for a 2012 model or newer, is more than 35 grand.

Yeah, but if you view his pictures carefully, he never told you to get a 2012+ GTR :troll:

Yeah, my co-worker is not lenient on the price. He's sticking with a $35,000 (after taxes) budget for an all wheel drive sedan/coupe.

If he's not lenient with the price, a WRX with Sport pkg is more like 39-40k after tax

LP700-4 05-24-2015 01:37 PM

For 35k tax in you would only be able to fit a base pkg in. Sport will be 37-38k and Sport Tech will be near 41-42 i believe.

+ 1 on a SW-AWD TL.

Klondike 05-24-2015 02:16 PM

You can get a Volvo S60 with AWD but the XC70 would be much better if he's going up the mountain with snowboard/skis.

That, or a 9-3 turboX

I only posted AWD sedan or coupe that are $35,000 or less. I don't know what you're complaining about

Sorry Timpo. My bad. I quickly glanced through your posts thinking thatyou put in a GT-R picture in one of those posts. :lawl:

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'll talk to my co-worker about the WRX tomorrow when he's at work. Solid choice of car.

pastarocket 05-28-2015 10:13 AM

My co-worker told me yesterday that he bought the used Beemer 228i X drive coupe. I was shocked after he told me about the purchase because the car was rebuilt. Anyways, he says that his buddy, a mechanic, did a full inspection of the car. The only damage to the car was to the fender and hood. Engine, suspension, electronics and switches etc are fine.

I hope that he didn't buy a lemon. :heckno:

He wants to go to the ski hill so he bought a 2 door BMW with an added front spoiler, because it's AWD?

:seriously:

noclue 05-28-2015 10:26 AM

lol guess the "prestige" bmw went straight to his head.

Yeah, I didn't understand the logic behind buying the Beemer 2 series with the X drive if he's driving it to a ski hill. :suspicious:

He's a Fob though. Maybe he's stuck on that mentality of "ooh, I bought a German ride, a Beemer, at a bargain price".

He can't get enough of that Beemer "prestige factor"? :lawl:
Beemers and Mercedes are a dime a dozen as a daily driver among many Asians in the Lower Mainland .

steel_chain619 05-30-2015 11:01 AM

damn, too late to chime in.

just wanted to say i have a 2015 base WRX and the only thing that makes me go up a package is the moonroof. other than that, everything else is all i need. cost me 27k taxes in.

who said anything about a warranty? that warranty is long gone

Xu.Vi 05-30-2015 01:00 PM

Keep us updated on how his car runs lol.

nma 05-30-2015 01:18 PM

The only thing I hate about the new 28i lineup is the engine. BMW sports coupes should never come with a 4 cyl turbo. Its just weird. Doesn't sound and feel like a BMW should. The 235i is nice but then again I don't want an inline 6 turbo. I was very happy with the inline 6 na on my e82

But the seats are some of the best you'll sit in.

vudooca 05-30-2015 07:48 PM

I vote for 3000gt... cant go wrong with 90s japanese muscle... low depreciation and may actually swing up in coming years if kept in good condition. Like that red one posted up on page 1.

Assuming the person has cash..

probably get a nice example for 10-12k... add 5k for tasteful mods (wheels etc)... and have 5-6k for maintenance for the rest of its life. Save that extra 15k cash for life... If you need to sell the car you wont be losing much.

How did you get it for 27k???Base was like 26k + freight/taxes it was around 32k last I checked.

LP700-4 05-30-2015 09:07 PM

37k maybe. Not enough stock for any dealers to sell at anything less than MSRP.

Lomac 05-31-2015 04:17 AM

A 2015MY write off with only hood and fender damage?

I know BMW shit can be expensive, but it's not THAT expensive. I'll guarantee a lot more was replaced than just a hood and fender.

Some people... FailFish

I have zero experience with it, but if multiple airbags deployed, I could see that driving costs through the roof with minor damage.
