Hansen literally skates with Bortuzzo all the way from the opposing blue line to their own blue line. McCann, is skating backwards, sees Hansen right beside Bortuzzo at centre ice, then McCann pivots to face his man, Steen.
Steen pulls up at the blue line to get on the other side of the puck carrier. McCann, seeing Steen is going to the sidewall, gets himself in a support position for the defenseman with his back to Hansen and Bortuzzo. To me, that's a pretty obvious sign that McCann thinks Hansen has Bortuzzo.
However, Hansen lets Bortuzzo at the blue line to go to cover Steen. Steen's not in a scoring position on the side wall. McCann doesn't pick him up, obviously, because there was no visual communication between himself and Hansen. I'm guessing there was no audible communication either.
You can't just let your guy go and expect someone else to pick him up with no communication at all, especially when he's a rookie forward covering for the dman and has his back to you and your guy.
If you want to put blame on McCann, be my guest, but I fail to see how you can let Hansen off the hook for vacating his guy, who scored, at the blue line on a 3-on-3 rush.
On the Yakupov goal, Sbisa makes a mistake trying to step up on McDavid at the blueline when McDavid came in with speed with Hansen in tow. Horvat is right beside Letestu and Hamhuis is playing his side. McDavid beats Sbisa to the outside, Hamhuis recognizes this and starts to skate towards McDavid to cut off his path to the net, Horvat takes Letestu as he drives towards the net, and Hansen, realizing he's lost McDavid, pulls up.
However, at this point, Hansen should have his head on a swivel, but is instead gliding and puck watching, covering nothing. He doesn't even glide into the middle of the slot. McDavid feeds the puck through the slot to Yakupov, Horvat has taken Letestu to the front of the net, and Hamhuis is between McDavid and the net.
Unless you want Horvat to vacate Letestu, basically creating a 2-on-1 against Hamhuis, I fail to see how Horvat should carry any degree of fault at all.
