@EdmontonJack: Least surprising confirmation of the day? Oilers are 1st team in NHL history to get goals from four #1 overall picks in the same game.
I don't even know if this is something to be proud of.

Hansen covers no one, Sportsnet expert analysts blame Horvat for covering his own guy instead of Hansen's guy.

Last game, Hansen covered no one, Sportsnet blamed it on McCann.

What fucking defensive schemes does Sportsnet expect where the center is supposed to bail on his guy to cover someone else?

You'd think watching the Leafs 82 times a year would give them some idea of how NOT to play defense.

68style 10-18-2015 06:09 PM

Oh the Leafs play defense just fine... They just don't have anyone in goal :fullofwin:

So shorthouse seems like he was a victim of the snet restructuring, has he called a game this season?

John and John only do regional games.

This was a national game. Any game on Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday is televised nation-wide.

Watch the replay again. Hansen was going to the trailing guy to negate the 3 on 2 while McCann was skating down the middle by himself.

Nabatron 10-18-2015 10:14 PM

Why have fucking young guys in your line up when you won't play them or put them in positions to succeed...stapling a whole fucking line to the bench come on now WD has been pissing me off since they days of his dick sucking ways with vey now it's the other new young guys he's giving the shaft too. Weather it's giving them less ice time, to not putting vrbata with the Sedins, to running the Sedins into the ground 3 on 3 he is just fucking everything up...for fuck sakes give the young guys a shot weather it's on pp, ice time and especially 3 on 3

Hansen literally skates with Bortuzzo all the way from the opposing blue line to their own blue line. McCann, is skating backwards, sees Hansen right beside Bortuzzo at centre ice, then McCann pivots to face his man, Steen.

Steen pulls up at the blue line to get on the other side of the puck carrier. McCann, seeing Steen is going to the sidewall, gets himself in a support position for the defenseman with his back to Hansen and Bortuzzo. To me, that's a pretty obvious sign that McCann thinks Hansen has Bortuzzo.

However, Hansen lets Bortuzzo at the blue line to go to cover Steen. Steen's not in a scoring position on the side wall. McCann doesn't pick him up, obviously, because there was no visual communication between himself and Hansen. I'm guessing there was no audible communication either.

You can't just let your guy go and expect someone else to pick him up with no communication at all, especially when he's a rookie forward covering for the dman and has his back to you and your guy.

If you want to put blame on McCann, be my guest, but I fail to see how you can let Hansen off the hook for vacating his guy, who scored, at the blue line on a 3-on-3 rush.

On the Yakupov goal, Sbisa makes a mistake trying to step up on McDavid at the blueline when McDavid came in with speed with Hansen in tow. Horvat is right beside Letestu and Hamhuis is playing his side. McDavid beats Sbisa to the outside, Hamhuis recognizes this and starts to skate towards McDavid to cut off his path to the net, Horvat takes Letestu as he drives towards the net, and Hansen, realizing he's lost McDavid, pulls up.

However, at this point, Hansen should have his head on a swivel, but is instead gliding and puck watching, covering nothing. He doesn't even glide into the middle of the slot. McDavid feeds the puck through the slot to Yakupov, Horvat has taken Letestu to the front of the net, and Hamhuis is between McDavid and the net.

Unless you want Horvat to vacate Letestu, basically creating a 2-on-1 against Hamhuis, I fail to see how Horvat should carry any degree of fault at all.
