imo 1st isnt only for lehner, while legwand looks like a cap dump hes important to a young team. he was 2nd overall pick in 98 and will be an important mentor to eichel, reinhart etc. lehner has shown some stretches where hes played really good, unfortunately has had injuries after those. still quite young, especially for a goalie. |
Bieksa has been a good mentor for the young guys and has done a great job representing the city and Canucks - it'll be sad to see him go. From an on-ice perspective, moving forward, he's just not providing the numbers. |
Buffalo can afford the risk, they are going to contend right away so they can try him out for a year or two, If it doesn't work you can make a move for a more established goalie, fairly hefty price to pay for a gamble but the lower cap hit and longer term Is the appeal I guess |
After trading their 6th round pick yesterday for his RFA rights the Avalanche signed Soderberg today. It looks like he is the replacement for O'Riley, if he gets traded. |
I guess when your current goalie roster is Chad Johnson and Anders Lindback you gotta do something lol Seems very similar numbers-wise to Neuvirth who they chose to dump... |
Good pick up by the sabres using legwand as a mentor to eichel and reinhart 1998 2nd pick mentoring 2015 #2 OA and 2014 #2 OA |
Crazy that Robin Lehner cost a 1st rounder. I'd do that Markstrom + Bieksa + our 1st for the 9th in an instant. That's a great deal. Sad that Bieksa's leaving, though. He's my favorite Canuck but he looked so old and slow last year that maybe it's just time. It like when Ohlund and Sami Salo left. |
Going to miss Bieksa a lot. Been around for a decade and although he had a prickly attitude, you could see how much he cares for the team and the city. But it is the right time for him to move on. |
Why I'll always love JUICE. |
Who started the markstrom, bieksa, first to SJ rumour? That is a terrible fucking deal for SJ. Only way it would be even decent is if markstrom became a solid starter. |
no idea who started the rumours...doubt its true though. not sure what's going on in the background but i think JB still waiting for Talbot to go before he pulls any goalie-related deals. |
or waiting until the draft and might do the deal when SJ can select the 9th pick. If the player the Canucks want is still there do it but if not why make it now and risk the kid you are gunning for |
or he's just not gonna do anything sit through the draft with :troll: on his face all day err day. LOL edit: fuck i hope Lucic doesn't end up in LA |

Calgary gets Dougie Hamilton wtfffffffff wow |
Canucks now fittin to get rekt by Alberta |
Really interested to see what Boston got in return.. Sekeres just said it may have been just picks. |
just picks.....gjdm Calgary |
wow.... 1st rd + 2 2nd rd picks for dougie |
Jesus, a first and 2 seconds for Hamilton. Curious, they must have something else planned for today. Makes me wonder, is calgary maybe trying to go all in too early with a fairly young forward core? Lot of picks to give up in a good draft, granted it is a stud defenseman they are getting. |
LOL @ Flames basically re-assembling Boston's unaffordable defence (with so many expensive forwards) on a different team with young affordable forwards. |
I think picks Nos. 15, 45 and 52 going to Boston for Dougie Hamilton. There is rumour going about lucic going to canucks either trade or next offseason. I wouldn't be surprised as his dad passed away recently, he probably wants to be closer to home. |
