Stamkos playing for the Leafs would be great. If you have the ability to aquire talent like that, without having to trade for it, you don't pass that up no matter what stage your team is at. He could take players like Nylander and Marner under his wing so they aren't being thrown to the wolves like the kids in Edmonton have. He might also help draw other players around the league to play in Toronto. I'm not getting my hopes up though and the media/fan obsession is annoying.

Lets play some arm chair GM! We all know the Canucks are sucking balls right now and most likely won't make the playoffs this year on their play alone so....
This summer when Canucks look to get some free agent talent who do you think their top guys they would be looking at and which ones you think they will sign here?
For example some names would be stamkos, stahl, kopitar, Lucic ect....go!

With guys like Weber, maybe bartkowski, hopefully Higgins, vrbata and hamhuis coming off the books Canucks could legitimately get a guy like stamkos but I'm thinking Canucks will go after a guy like Lucic since the familiarity with JB...kopitar would be nice too! If I'm JB this summer I'm looking for a legitimate centre, winger that could score and a decent dman to move the puck and fill the rest from with in either from the farm or other free agents but most likely from with in

as good as picking up Stamkos sounds for the Canucks, the best thing they can do in the off season is to pick up a top 2 dman
i'm hoping JB signs some defensive depth during the College Free Agency season, i haven't been keeping tabs on who's good but it's his best shot at solidifying the empty D cupboards

If you look at the various TB Lightning forums, the overwhelming majority of TB fans want Yzerman to trade Stamkos as they all don't think he is worth taking up $10mil of the cap. Will be interesting to see what happens with him.

dont know any stud college dman guys out there but yeah we need a dman to solidify the backend either in college free agency or nhl free agents...as for the NHL ones i dont know what ones out there would be decent!

iirc he signed that bridge contract that doesn't expire til 2017 at $4M aav, it doesn't have an NTC/NMC so he can't really force CBJ to deal him to a specific team

If things keep up our first rounder will be quite valuable. so in my opinion that is out of trade talks. I think Horvat or McCann can be moved. Between Cassels McCann and Horvat our potential future middle 2 centers appear to be filled. That's assuming they can blossom into their expectations. now the question is who's name do you throw around as trade bait, or do you wait to see if Cassels cracks the line up in two years then deal with the issue when it arrives.
