Really?? INFO?!

n3w8ie-aler 01-15-2016 08:30 PM

Roy has already begun preparations for the game. Twice in the past two weeks he has donned the goalie pads and faced shots from current Avalanche players, most recently Wednesday when he faced shots from defenseman Brad Stuart and forward Chris Wagner.

"Not bad, it's getting there," Roy, 50, said of his workout. "My second day today. It's coming. If I could lose 30 pounds, that'll help."

Roy, who won the Stanley Cup four times, as well as 551 regular-season games in 18 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens and Avalanche, is excited about the opportunity to link up with old friends and face old rivals.

"I think it's going to be fun going on the ice with these guys," Roy said Wednesday. "You never know how it's going to turn, but you know one thing, there's a lot of respect deep inside every one of us."

Sentinel 01-16-2016 09:45 AM

Too bad Yzerman isn't going to suit up.

murd0c 01-16-2016 09:50 AM

one of these days I would love both avs goalies getting hurt in the same game forcing Roy to go in net lol

Nabatron 01-16-2016 09:56 AM

^if that did happen would Roy even be aloud to suite up?

It happened in Florida last year when Lu was hurt, then Montoya got hurt when they played against Toronto.
It was pretty funny.

They thought about dressing one of the players as a goalie and another option was to dress the goalie coach and play him.
In the end, Lu sucked it up and redressed in his goalie gear to finish the game.

murd0c 01-16-2016 10:04 AM

Roy is signed by the team so yes that would be allowed.. I wouldn't be surprised ever cause I could see him still winning. Best goalie of all time just sucks he retired so early

Gh0stRider 01-16-2016 10:21 AM

I thought about getting tix to the stadium series, but already went to winter classic so i passed on this one.

Got to watch Yzerman suit up for the alumni game, good enough.

as much as I hate the Bruins, that 200k donation is pretty classy.... something I don't see aquaman ever doing

(didn't say it was a settlement so I'm assuming they're still being sued)
