i'm actually pretty amazed at the fact the leafs were able to shed Phaneuf's salary without retaining anything or giving up any significant assets

canucks will be shedding lots of salary this off season...just depends on how much stamkos wants and what JB is willing to offer and we all know JB is willing to offer more money and term...ie sbisa, dorsett, sutter, barkowski with money not term..

Stamkos is basically getting max contract. Maybe bigger signing bonus like o'reilly.
$1 mil salary and rest signing bonus.
Stamkos position is which team is best positioned to win a cup.
I can only dream drafting Matthews and signing stamkos. Lol

The only "major" Toronto-boy signing they've had is David Clarkson, which everyone outside of Toronto knew was a massive mistake before the ink was dry. Toronto took a couple of years to figure it out.

If I were stamkos I would move to the panthers they are up and coming with all their young guys a head of alot of teams...they are more positioned to contend for the playoffs but not really cup contenders yet..in a few years i suppose!

i think its a foregone conclusion that Stamkos will get the biggest contract/high cap hit and ungodly bonuses no matter where he signs
there must be a line somewhere on his landing spot...i'd actually be interested in betting on this
