the * i could see being traded for players Benning deem are already ahead in the NHL development curve (similar to the Clendening Forsling trade)

My safe list is much shorter, only bo and McCann. All the others, I think could be included in some sort of package for say a top 3 pick in this years draft. I'm not counting markstrom as s prospect though, And he isn't going anywhere. He'll be a solid piece while we wait for demko to arrive, or also good insurance in the event demko packs up and signs elsewhere.

Yeah none of those guys have shown with much consistency that they can produce in the NHL...just Horvat and McCann. I'd trade any of them if the deal was right. I have a hard time justifying Horvat or McCann being part of a deal but I'm sure there's a deal where it wouldn't be outrageous to include them either.

6o4__boi 02-16-2016 12:06 PM

i'd think Virtanen would be pretty untouchable too

the numbers aren't there yet but his advanced stats are looking pretty positive

tonyzoomzoom 02-16-2016 12:16 PM

All this talk about untouchables sounds just like Edmonton. Need a #1 D, but don't want to part with any of their top forwards.

If the deal is good, then pull the trigger.

hi-revs 02-16-2016 12:16 PM

I hope virtanen doesn't get traded. He's looked pretty solid for the games he's played.

if we ever crack a top 3 pick somehow
this guy needs to get team MVP

Teams rarely deal away a potentially #1 Dman. Maybe Nashville cuz they are nashville who basically use all their draft picks to draft dmen.

But even Edmonton couldn't pick up Jones with all their top forwards.

If we get 4/5th pick and we draft Chychrun, I'd be pretty happy.

haha been going on this to see how many times we win the first overall pick.

Does it factor in Edmonton bias for and Vancouver bias against?

Canucks don't have any prospects that I would deem as absolutely untouchable on par with McDavid/Eichel/Ekblad etc.

Mike Oxbig 02-16-2016 05:32 PM

Chychrun seems pretty overrated. Doesnt seem like Erik Johnson is doing with them being similar kinda player.

Hope we land Nylander or Juolevi if we outside the top 5

Ch28 02-16-2016 05:50 PM

Chychrun has essentially played himself out of a top 3 and possibly top 5 position.

RRxtar 02-16-2016 08:06 PM

Hate to say it #teamtank but Edmonton has this tanking thing figured out. And this arena has sadness as an atmosphere.

Having been to both Edmonton and Winnipeg, both cities that don't have much else beyond NHL and CFL teams, Winnipeg is by far the more die hard whole city behind the team city. The whole city is filled with jets gear.

I won a trip for 2, 2 tickets, hotel and flight to the game at a golf tournament last summer. Was kinda neat to see the old building but their new one is going to be so nice. It will have a whole social Plaza built around it. Much nicer than the hole in the ground feeling at Rogers arena.

It's easy to get laid in places where there isn't much to do. It's like you're the shiny new toy and all the local sloots gotta get a taste.

Dennis Wideman :lawl:

Bettman upholds 20-game suspension for Flames? defenseman Wideman | The Hockey News
Quote:

The commissioner added he had the ability to hand Wideman an even more significant suspension, too. Bettman wrote he was “troubled” by Wideman not accepting responsibility.
“The sincerity of (Wideman’s) apologies rings somewhat hollow given the text message he sent to a teammate on February 2 — after the conclusion of the hearing before (NHL director of hockey operations Colin) Campbell — that ‘[t]he only problem and the only reason I’m here is cause the stupid refs and stupid media,’ ” Bettman wrote.

Expresso 02-17-2016 03:35 PM

^^^Didn't know the NHL can subpoena player's phones for a suspension hearing.

Obsideon 02-17-2016 10:22 PM

Ouch, Wideman is set to forfeit half a million in this suspension.

Devastator 02-17-2016 10:52 PM

Honestly I don't feel bad for Wideman, There is no valid reason for him to cross check an official of all people on the ice the way he did. Absolutely disrespectful in my eyes. At least the NHL maintained whatever dignity they had remaining by serving him the automatic 20 game suspension.
