also hearing that Hawks may be willing to part with their grade A prospects/high picks if Canucks take on Bickell

i hope we see something like
Higgins for bickell + a pick (3rd or 4th)
chicago get a lower cap hit, and a very good penalty killer in higgins
Hamhuis for pokka + 1st
canucks get a young d prospect

With higgins at least he can help out their penalty kill and play good defensively.
It also gives the hawks some cap space as well higgins 2.5m vs bickell 4m.

Rumour/suggestion out of Calgary is Wideman has been linked to Van. Was from Eric Duhatschek
If Canucks have to retain and take on bickell they will be getting more than pokka 1st for vrbata and hamhuis. Another prospect like schmaltz etc

Rhd who puts up 40+ pts. Signed for another year. Our d is shit especially with hamhuis more than likely being traded. Think he has less than 10games for the suspension now.
Think the theory is buy cheap sell large next year

Wideman has a cap hit of 5.25 mill for the 16/17 season and then he'll be a UFA. He has 8 more games left to serve from his suspension pending the appeal.

Considering they want to drop him to re-sign Russell...I wouldn't think too much. Also that teams right now that want d don't have much cap + his suspension and possible treatment afterwards is too risky for playoff teams. Signing Russell and then having a cap problem in the offseason handicaps them in trades too
Ladd scratched for wpg tonight. Guess they close to a trade. Gary lawless says the Hawks..

Don't forget to factor in that the cap for next season will likely stay at the same level, so lots of teams with UFAs and RFAs will be looking to clear room.

lol the refs already hate us...we won't get a PP for the rest of the season with Wideman
which might actually be a good things unless the Sedins/kids start getting decked around
