What is it with Canadian teams in the last 12 years, losing the finals and then spiralling down to garbage?

Just based on that one angle, looks like he did lose the puck, but not in a sense where the puck slipped away, as he looked like he was able to easily recover immediately as he didn't even change his stride. Or it might even be debatable he let the puck slide to the backhand on purpose cause he had full intention to set up a drop pass to Ovie.

starting the playoffs there is going to be a camera at each blue line to stop that from happening which came out today from the GM meetings

83.1 Off-side - Players of the attacking team must not precede the puck
into the attacking zone.
The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be
the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player
is off-side when both skates are completely over the leading edge of
the blue line involved in the play.
A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or
on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses
the leading edge of the blue line regardless of the position of his stick. However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the
line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he
had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the
blue line.
Which is why the commentator made that statement, "You can carry it backwards, but you must have control and maintain control"
So the controversy is whether he had possession and control or not in that play. He definitely had possession, as he was the puck carrier.
"Control" seems to be the one debatable.
Only being able to see that play from that one angle, IMO, I can conclude two things:
He tried to bring it in on the forehand and missed the puck (losing control).
Or he lifted his stick on purpose to let that puck slide in, placed his stick in front of the puck to prepare for a drop pass to Ovie.

Not pessimistic however, I do hope once he gets his conditioning up to have a positive impact.

and let's admit it, Doug Lidster with skates on thrown in the middle of today's game will play better than Bart so the expectations are pretty low on him Tryamkin

Some nice breakout passes would be nice as well. I do except him getting burnt with guys flying around him but if he can stop those I will be impressed.

Tryamkin will not be paired with Pedan tonight.
WD would pair them with guys he has more faith in. That's just his style.
If both guys pan out, it could happen maybe next year but I would say more likely the year after, and of course that is if both guys pan out and aren't traded away for pucks.

if they both pan out next year we could potentially have 2 bottom six dman with top four ceiling who can punish opposition with physicality and size

My only concern is that Tryamkim isn't as big in bulk as people make him out to be.
at 6'7" but only 228 lbs, he is tall but not wide.
In comparison, Tanev is listed as 6'2" and 185 lbs.
Sbisa is 6'2" and 198 lbs.
Edler is 6'3" and 215 lbs.
Pedan is 6'5" and 213 lbs.
So the question remains, how punishing is Tryamkim going to be.
Chara is listed at 6"9" and 250 lbs.

He's only 21 years old so maybe Dim Jim will tell WD that Tryamkin will be on a special workout regimen to improve his conditioning and muscle mass.
Turn Tryamkin into a big cedar tree.

Smart move would be to pair Tryamkin with Hamhuis. It's his NHL debut with all eyes on him, so definitely helps to have a stabilizing factor like Hamhuis to cover if he makes any mistakes (which he will)
