I can understand in Rodin's case since he did already play two years in the AHL before going to the SEL. I think you are right he's just hoping shit will stick and if not trade him or send them down to the minor's which is the only thing he seems to be able to do.

Isn't that the whole point though? Hoping for the best?
Just like any acquisition (whether it is via draft, trade, or FA), you're just playing the cards you're dealt and hoping it'll all work out.

Been following Rodin for a while
When they drafted him they had high hopes. He had injuries and played like shit. Now he started to rip it up and they have to sign and bring him here.
If it's a one way deal if they want to put in in the A he has to clear waivers.
Also keep in mind, when the expansion draft happens next year they have to protect Rodin because he will likely get sniped.

If "you" were the GM of the canucks and the expansion draft happened in 2017, would you protect the twins?
The reasoning is only 1 player will be plucked from each team and Daniel alone may not be as effective as having both of them playing together.
In 2017, they will be 37 with 1 year left on their contract.
What are your thoughts?

I don't think an expansion draft will waste their one pick on one Sedin for the reasons you said above or unless they make an eventual trade for both. Also don't see an expansion team giving them a chance at winning asap either. You would need the remaining twin to waive to follow his brother.
Canucks can probably get away NOT protecting any Sedin.

Burrows back on the top line with the twins to start the game tonight.

Also keep in mind, when the expansion draft happens next year they have to protect Rodin because he will likely get sniped. | Waiver eligibility depends on age, age of signing, and games played. Has nothing to do with 1-way or 2-way. 2-way has a lower salary for playing in the minors; 1-way doesn't.
Under the old CBA, 1-way contracts were subject to recall waivers (as well as 2-way contracts with a minor-league salary in excess of a certain $$$ figure). That was eliminated.

You'd be stupid not to take the sedins from the expansion draft.
Their professionalism, work ethic, charitable works, and leadership is perfect to build your team culture in a new hockey market.
That and the jersey sales they can generate being a star player.

Yeah, dump the face of the franchise for the past 10 years. That model worked real well for Edmonton when they went young and forgot to leave the veterans around to teach them how to be pros.
I'm sure Aqualini would love that idea too. Just throw away all the marketing dollars that went behind them when they're pretty much the main attraction with the team we now have.

The Sedins have full NMCs IIRC. May not be able to expose them even if JB (assuming he's still here) wants to.

What i read was that players with NMC have to be protected. Players with NTC can be exposed to expansion draft AFAIK |

Would you use 2 and protect the twins?
Then use the remaining 5 to protect Virtanen, BoHo, McCann, Grunland and Gaunce?

No one is taking one sedin with their pick.
Also the Canucks would be a fucking joke if they actually felt like they needed to use it on them. Way more important peices to protect.

Doug Maclean and company clearly unfamiliar with how much Portland cheated to acquire those players they "developed." Mention that Mike Johnston was suspended, didn't mention why. What a joke.
For their numerous violations in player recruitment, they were fined $200k USD, head coach was suspended for a year, they forfeited all of their 2013 draft picks, and forfeited their next 4 first round picks.
But, yeah, they "developed" all that NHL talent
