Lol I actually like that trade. I have a good feeling about Sven

Mike Oxbig 06-30-2015 03:09 PM

seems like bennings hiring is making him a scape goat rebuild/draft good players then step down becoming our head scout.

dhari 06-30-2015 03:09 PM

I hear a lot of talk about heart and good guys. Being nice to the "heart" and "good guys" has not worked out. This shows that Benning does't care about that nonsense. Finally we have someone who will deal people based on cap space and the fact that they are aging rather than how much the fans liked him.

Why are the Canucks always such losers? Love them to death... but man... that's just bad.

You're forgetting $4mil worth of salary cap space. Besides, all you dipshits complain how we need to get younger. Well that's exactly what he's doing. FailFish

Ronin 06-30-2015 03:09 PM

Tegra_devil is getting us back for a decade of us talking shit about the Flames. :lol We've traded places.

Time is a flat circle.

Mike Oxbig 06-30-2015 03:18 PM

Not a Canucks fan anymore... keep talking Tegra_devil :accepted:

Go ducks go! :troll:

PiuYi 06-30-2015 04:30 PM

i love bieksa for his work on and off the ice to death but in all honesty this isn't a bad trade, bieksa doesn't have many good years left in him (if any, rmb the turnovers last year?)

this gives us a chance to play frankie corrado and our younger prospects more. biekesa gets a chance to win the cup. win/win

murd0c 06-30-2015 05:25 PM

Even tho I'm going to miss juice like everyone else has said a 2nd rounder is decent and this is the start of the rebuild and us getting younger which is needed. Can't wait to find out what happens tomorrow but I have a feeling we are going to land a certain dean which is from BC

Ch28 06-30-2015 06:17 PM

Canucks are going to suck next season and I look forward to #Tank4Matthews

Some Canucks fans need to chill.

Aging core, many players with NTCs and no prospects in the cupboard. Canucks have enjoyed success for a decade and the timing of where this franchise is now with Edm and Cgy rising sucks, but it's going to happen slowly.

People on Team 1040 are so critical and that's fair game to voice concerns. You have to build the prospect pool first. It's going to take time. Some luck would also be nice (i.e. Hitting on a prospect) that wasn't projected to be a top 6 for example - see Gaudreau.

I see a bad couple of years before things turn around for the Canucks.

Ch28 06-30-2015 06:33 PM

This was a necessary move and I hope other guys like Higgins gets moved because he's pretty much filler, while guys like Hamhuis and Edler get moved because they're assets for any team looking to upgrade their D

Hondaracer 06-30-2015 06:34 PM

man, with juice gone the twins gonna be open game

Mike Oxbig 06-30-2015 06:39 PM

Wouldn't mind Schwartz + Oshie + 1st round 2016 for sedins

It happens, seems like the only way to be able to do something these days rather then being a middle pack team doing nothing

pastarocket 06-30-2015 08:04 PM

Thank you Juice for 10 seasons as a Canuck.

Juice has been paired with garbage since... 2011

everything is since 2011

what the fuck is going on...

goddammit

spoon.ek9 06-30-2015 09:35 PM

Real sad to see him go but it was necessary. I hope he wins it all with Anaheim! :(

Canucks are going to get rekt hard this season and perhaps the next 1-2 as well.

CRS 06-30-2015 09:35 PM

I'm glad that we're seemingly moving away from retooling to rebuilding.

This should have been done a couple seasons ago but I'm glad it's finally underway.

We've had our fun with some really good hockey and now it's time for other teams to shine.

RRxtar 06-30-2015 09:46 PM

Sad to see Bieksa go. He's going to be on the short list of alot of peoples favorite Canucks, but the times are changing. Im actually more excited about the next 2 years than I was about the last few and Im almost not even disappointed if we lose. The next year or 2 are going to be about the small victories of watching the kids develop, and seeing what kind of youth we can bring in. Remember when Tanev just kind of showed up out of nowhere as a solid D, or how Horvat has really developed over the last year, we're going to hopefully get a few of those to look forward to now. Im excited to see the next generation of Canucks develop into the new core. Its like 05-07 again watching Kesler, Burrows, Hansen, Bieksa, Edler, etc all become regulars taking over for the WCE, Linden, Ohlund, Jovo, era.

hi-revs 06-30-2015 09:53 PM

Canucks are like Calgary a few years ago. It's bound to happen as our veterans age.
We've had a more or less successful last handful + of years. Hopefully Benning and Linden can build a successful next decade.

murd0c 06-30-2015 10:14 PM

I'm honestly going to shead a tear when the Sedins are traded or retire, they have been two of the best Canucks ever and have been perfect roll models for the players and in the community. It kinda looks that's the way it's going now and it totally bums me out

PiuYi 06-30-2015 10:41 PM

I think its much less likely the Sedins and their mammoth contracts get traded, especially at 33/34 yrs old... they're also essential, along with hamhuis, to keep around to mentor the new generation

but like you said earlier, they're gonna get rekt next year which will be tougher to watch than us losing

Ch28 06-30-2015 10:45 PM

Age isn't the issue with the Sedins. Their possession style cycle works well regardless of age. The thing that's holding them back from being traded is finding a contending team that is able to take on 14 million in salary per season until the 2018-2019 season.

Mike Oxbig 06-30-2015 10:58 PM

Islanders should jump on it
