If we didn't fuck up and win three games in Cali we might have been bottom. Dammit, Canucks, we can't even win at losing... |
Torts was a pretty good hire. He tanked us to 6th overall and picked Virtanen. He got us a 2nd round draft pick from Columbus. He's close on giving us a higher chance of top 3 pick in this years draft with a win tonight. |
Who turned out to be the 2nd round pick? Was it the guy from the Q? |
i don't think that's been determined yet they've got an option to give either this years or the 2017 or 2018 iirc haven't heard if they've made a decision which 2nd round pick to give as compensation yet |
Columbus can choose to give us their 2016, 2017, or 2018 2nd round pick. Odds are it'll be the 2018 pick. |
hopefully he's still the coach in 2018 lol that guarantees it to be 30-35 at least |
why is cbj 4th line hartnell campbell and folingo? thats a stanley cup 4th line |
Hartnell has been a healthy scratch the last couple of games. |
oh shit...this can't be good When was the last time something good ever came out of "let me think about this for a few weeks." I'd lure Garteig at this point, maybe shop around Demko at the draft...man these NCAA loopholes need to be closed. |
You had one job JB... |
Any word on where the Jimmy Vici kid will sign? TO? |
i think TO and Boston are the rumoured front-runners in that sweepstakes Theres's also Drake Caggiula that's still generating a lot of interest goddammit JB, at least get Boeser signed. it's pretty disheartening news but if Demko decides not to sign...our goalie pool is pretty much non-existent |
Any reasons why Demko wouldn't sign with us? |
prolly watched the last few months lol he's a highly touted goalie prospect...the demand (and bonuses) will be pretty high if he goes to Free Agency |

If Demko signs he needs to quit college and play in the AHL next year, the reason why he might not want to make the decision right now he might want to still take advantage of that free ride of to get what ever degree he's currently going for. He's prob bummed that he lost out of the frozen 4 and needs time to think which is understandable with what he's been through. |
I could be wrong, but if Demko signs with the Canucks, that means he turns pro and cannot play NCAA hockey next year. I believe he has 1 year left till he graduates. Same goes for Boeser. Boeser is a freshman this year and has 3 more years of schooling. |
but you'd think he'd want to be a goalie more than to finish his engineering degree after all, that's gonna be your immediate career for the next decade or so if all goes well plus, he's done pretty much everything you expect out of a college goalie...stellar season, set records, Hobey Baker nominee, you'd think the next logical step is minors and a fast track to the big leagues (especially with Vancouver) coming back next year to do one more year of school and try for a college championship seems like a regression over turning pro unless the end goal is to get lucrative deals at the end of it |
I think the safe route is to finish school so that even if the hockey thing doesn't pan out, which is the case for many people, he would still have his college degree to fall back on. As well as other reasons that we may not know which may include playing in a goalie graveyard market or playing behind Miller/Markstrom. |
We've actually been a decent goalie factory lately Luongo, Schneider, Lack, Miller (rejuvenated), Markstrom Plus Miller's only got a year left...no way in hell he re-signs so Demko is probably looking at 1 year in the minors and then spending the next year or two as a back up to Markstrom. He's got a good shot at passing Markstrom if Markstrom continues to exhibit his glove side weakness. |
Heard Brock wants to turn pro next year |

- goalie graveyard - steaming pile of shit management - pressure cooker Canadian environment - not exactly an up and coming team - we're not in the USA (he's American) coaching I'd actually argue is one benefit Vancouver has since Rollie Melanson has been doing a pretty solid job... other than that, not sure why he'd want to come |
