Sbisa made it to Team Europe for the World Cup of Hockey :lawl:

Datsyuk still counts on Detroit's cap even if he retires from NHL, its a over 35 contract.

Team Canada finalized for World Cup

Crawford
Holtby
Price

Burns
Doughty
Keith
Muzzin
Pietrangelo
Vlasic
Weber

Benn
Bergeron
Carter
Crosby
Duchesne
Getzlaf
Giroux
Marchand
Seguin
Stamkos
Tavares
Toews
Thornton

Biggest surprise is probably Perry being left off. I'm not surprised Subban is left off as most fans might be, while fans seem to love him, its pretty evident most NHL GMs & coaches don't trust him and get tired of him, he'll make 1 great play then 5 boneheaded mistakes in a row. Rumors been even going around Montreal might trade him.

jeedee 05-27-2016 02:57 PM

Duchene/Marchand over Perry interesting....

6o4__boi 05-27-2016 02:59 PM

Lol Sbisa padding that trade value up :fullofwin:

Team Overview for Detroit Red Wings (16/17) | NHLnumbers.com

They currently only have 8F, 4D, 1G signed with a cap hit of 56.83 million. If they can somehow trade Datsyuk's $7.5 mill cap hit (if he retires) then that frees up $25.17 mill in cap space. They have 5 RFA they need to re-sign, which includes Petr Mrazek.

Jmac 05-27-2016 03:49 PM

Datsyuk's cap hit can't be traded if he retires.

it can be traded

Obsideon 05-27-2016 05:11 PM

Who would want a retired contract? Detroit would have to pull a Dim Jim and give out picks.

Team needing to hit the cap floor. Won't actually cost them any money except the team's cap space.

Renthal 05-27-2016 05:23 PM

if david clarkson and nathan horton can ben traded anything is possible lol

He usually plays good in international tournaments, hopefully some gm thinks he's reaching potential and takes him

He already is by most accounts.

I get some are not happy about giving up on McCann, but if you wait too long for them to develop physically and find that they are definitely not a fit, the player also loses value along the way. Theres a chance mccanns stock goes up in Florida, but also as good a chancr it goes down IMO.

McCann will not be 1/2/3c here in the next 2 years, so really no point keeping him around. I look at a similar situation/profile as Jordan Schroeder, and look what he returned in the end; that's right absolutely nothing.

I think the canucks know they aren't in a position to win the cup, but I feel to build a team that is willing to compete night to night will lead to a team that can win with more pieces added over time. If you don't compete, doesn't matter the talent level or number of studs on your team.

Nabatron 05-28-2016 08:36 AM

Thing with Mccann is here theres no spot for him to play centre unless someone is injured, plus I dont think he would want to play 4th line centre here. As for Florida trading for him where exactly would he play in their line up? They already have Barkov, Trocek, Bjustad he would be playing 4th line centre or on the wing. Pretty much the same dilema with the canucks....

Just having a gander at the Canada's WC roster.

Benn - LW/C
Bergeron - C
Carter - RW/C
Crosby - C
Duchesne - C
Getzlaf - C
Giroux - C
Marchand - LW
Seguin - C
Stamkos - C
Tavares - C
Toews - C
Thornton - C

That's a lot of C's, not that it matters for us, still kinda funny.

Would have liked to see McDavid get the nod over Marchand, but i guess he has a lot of years left in the league, and will most definitely be on the forefront of Canada's roster in the future. Would still be good for him to get the experience with all these top players.

edit: just been informed McJesus cant play for Canada :okay:

Nabatron 05-28-2016 10:43 AM

I would think there would be some sort of back up roster of players if any of them got injured. I assume alot of the guys who didnt make it on the main roster would be on the back up one...

Mc Jesus isn't allowed to be on Team Canada because they now have Team North America which he is in. It features all the best players from NA that are under 24

The only thing that concerns me in regards to Gudbranson is his durability. He seems to be relatively injury prone early on in his career. His playing style doesn't help, either.

Nabatron 05-28-2016 12:25 PM

RNH is made out of glass looks like the kid needs to drink a shit ton of milk since his bones are made out of glass...
