Signing Bickell after the cup win that year was stupid.

The guy never score more than 40 points a season yet you're paying him $4 million a year to stay.

BTW, it's July 11. What happened to NHL free agency frenzy?

Franson, Stewart, Ehrhoff, and even more bottom 6 guys.

Lots of ex Canucks too....Ehrhoff, Ballard, Booth, Lapierre... haha

Ballard said he's probably retiring, going to take the summer to think it over with his family. He's been struggling with concussion issues the past few years.

The other guys, no idea.

Nabatron 07-11-2015 10:17 AM

I wouldnt mind lapierre back he would be a way better fit on the fourth line then vey but doubt he would come back since management wants to go "young"

would be a sick 4th line tho dorsett, lappierre and prust!

I never understood this mentality. The Canucks are a product, why should "fans" (I hate this word btw), stick beside a lackluster team?

The Canucks players aren't your friends, you don't know them personally, and most of them aren't even from this city. You're cheering for a logo, simple as that.

If a car maker made a shit product, would you continue to buy it? If a show or movie sucked, would you continue to watch it to "support" the actors, director, and studio? Of course you wouldn't.

You're watching a bunch of millionaires playing a recreational game that kids play for fun. If the players aren't engaged to put on a good show, and management can't put together a team that can win, why should a person stick around to support? I don't see how the Canucks or any sports team for that matter should be any different.

johns(who management liked most out of their prospects besides mcneil) and sharp for garbutt and daley is huge returns? lolll come on man. they lost big on this trade imo

reports are oduya and ehrhoff waiting for chi to do more moves (bickell and maybe daley) if daley stays oduya is eliminated but its rumored ehrhoff is waiting to sign cheap with chi when they clear more cap

Just looking at Wake though you knew he wouldn't be in the CFL for long lol the guy was a monster compared to the rest of the league

Eastwood 07-11-2015 05:34 PM

Nobody will take Bickell's contract. Any other team and he wouldn't have scored 28 points and hes making $4 million a year.

Unless teams are willing to take a cap dump...

Jmac 07-11-2015 05:39 PM

There are ways to get rid of Bickell's contract. Fortunately, there are only 2 years left on it.

Chicago will likely have to give up another asset (draft pick or prospect) along with it for an inferior pick/prospect.

Middlesex OPP Charge Buffalo Sabres Centre Ryan O?Reilly With Impaired Driving | (CFPL AM) AM 980

Quote:

Less than two weeks after signing a seven year contract extension worth $52.5-million, Buffalo Sabres centre Ryan O’Reilly has been charged with impaired driving after a pickup truck collided with a Tim Hortons in Lucan, Ont.

OPP announced Monday that O’Reilly, 24, from Bluewater, Ont., had been charged with driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired (alcohol) and care or control over 80 mgs. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to remain at the scene.

According to Middlesex County OPP, a green Chevrolet pickup truck struck a commercial building on Richmond St. last Thursday morning (July 9) just after 4:00am. An employee of the Lucan Tim Hortons confirmed to AM980 that there had been a motor vehicle incident, but was unaware of the driver’s identity.

After the collision, police say a suspect drove the vehicle southbound on Saintsbury Line, before abandoning it and travelling by foot with another, unnamed, male occupant.

The vehicle was located on Harold Court, while both occupants were found on Main Street.

Police determined that the the driver had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested, transported to an OPP detachment for breath testing, then released on a promise to appear.

“We’re very concerned about the number of impaired drivers out there,” said OPP Constable Liz Melvin. “We encourage everyone to make alternative arrangements and not choose to drive with any amount of alcohol in their system.”

O’Reilly will appear in court in London, Ont. to answer to the charges on August 20. O’Reilly posted an image of a green, 1951 Chevrolet truck on his Instagram account in May. He captioned the photo “Got my new truck.”

Calls for comment to the Buffalo Sabres and Newport Sports, O’Reilly’s agency, were not returned.

On Monday afternoon, O’Reilly had deactivated his twitter account.

In 6 years with the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL, O’Reilly has compiled 90 goals and 156 assists. O’Reilly was traded along with Jamie McGinn to the Buffalo Sabres at the end of June.

On July 2, 2015, he signed a seven-year contract extension worth $52.5-million.

O’Reilly was awarded the 2014 Lady Byng Trophy “given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
