hes been ruled ineligible to play for Harvard. now hes left with two options, sign with the canucks, or wait to become a free agent (which due to his academic problems would be summer next year, not this year)

McNally is between a rock and a hard place... And Benning still doesn't seem very interested even knowing they can throw peanuts at him money wise :s

We didn't need Garrison's cap space this year, but it gives the team flexibility to make the moves IF the right deal comes along, or IF the need arises. Pressed up against the cap, you can't do a lick if something unexpected comes up. To me anyways, not willing to pick up a highly paid rental =/= an unwillingness to use up the cap space. But it has to be the right scenario.

Regarding Sbisa, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for last year (do we have a choice?). He's young, he'll learn. He plays a mean game, at times, which Garrison never did/would.

With Schneider getting traded, I have no problems with that in and of itself. He was the more valuable/tradeable asset, didn't have a lifetime contract attached to him, and Luongo is still a more than serviceable starter. I only wish Schneider was traded earlier to maximize the returns, not when the gun was pointed to MG's head with no takers for Luongo. I also wish Luongo wasn't so emo in his younger days, not getting a clutch playoff game start does not mean you have lost your starter's job for good and time to move on, but how much of that was also driven by local media?

I like Lack how I like Schneider, but if the deal is there you make it because he's the most valuable/tradeable goalie asset we have right now and the move needs to be made. Who knows what the market will be like as the summer goes on

Would be a pretty good pick up for any team...he's still got one year left on a low cap hit and will probably have a good bounce back year. I'd imagine the price would be pretty steep though.

The San Jose Sharks made steps to implement a culture change in the dressing room last off-season, and are expected to continue that process this year.

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area, speculates the Sharks could do something big before or at the draft later this week.

“There’s a real possibility that there could be a blockbuster in the works involving one of the team’s core players.

Would aging veterans Joe Thornton and/or Patrick Marleau prefer to relocate to a team that has a better chance of winning in the immediate future? Was Brent Burns shifted back to defense last season in order to increase his trade value? Is Logan Couture still happy here, after he was critical of the team’s “not great” culture? Is Justin Braun expendable after he struggled in the first year after signing a big contract extension? These are all fair questions.”

The Sharks also have ample cap space and Kurz reports the possibility they get in the restricted free agent market.

“Wilson has hinted for months that the Sharks could be in a position to take advantage of a club that is up against the cap. Perhaps they are readying an offer sheet or two for a top restricted free agent.

There should be plenty of options, and Wilson will weigh them all leading up to the draft and in the weeks that follow.”
