I didn't notice till they mentioned it on TSN1040, but Corrado changed his twitter profile and took Vancouver Canucks off, leaving just Sudbury Wolves and Kitchener Rangers alumni. But now it is back on. Member of the Vancouver Canucks organization. Interesting. |

lol waiting for the playnow odds to see the actual Torres suspension no way its gonna be 41 games |
GG Torres lol. Half the season gone hahaha |
Quote:
it was his spot to lose coming into training camp and he got outplayed. |
dam 41 game suspension.. thats what happens when u repeat offend |
Actually, apparently Torres isn't a repeat offender according to the current CBA. Only the last 18 months count toward that rule. |
Kassian suspended without pay and enters stage 2 of NHL-NHLPA joint behavioral modification program. Looks like he dun goofed again. |
41 games for torres |
|
Stage 1 can be voluntary or involuntary (if arrested for a substance or substance abuse related offense), can be outpatient or inpatient, and the player can continue training, practicing, and playing as normal (if outpatient) with penalties so long as he abides by the terms of the program. If a player violates the terms of stage 1 or is convicted of a substance-related offense, he jumps to stage 2. Stage 2 is involuntary, requires initial inpatient treatment at a facility recommended by the treatment program's doctors, and the player is suspended without pay until cleared by the treatment program's doctors, except a stipend to cover living expenses. The player may not participate in any training, practices, or games until cleared from the program by the program's doctors. Kassian is fucked. Contract is up at the end of the year, his only saving grace may be that he's a pending RFA instead of UFA. |
Torres was a former canucks so thats why they punished him the way they did. |

He hasn't been with the Canucks for years |
watching that replay again and again it looks like raffi had to dodge his own teammate then silfverberg leaned back just a bit at the last second causing the hit to the head, he didnt even leave his feet for the hit reckless play for sure but 41 games seems a bit much... 20-30 seems more appropriate, especially if its true he can't be considered a repeat offender |
BEAAAAUTY |
How ironic that it's Chris fucking Pronger of all people dealing out the punishment ... |
oh well he's not a canuck no more its all good, that hit was worst than the examples posted, it was straight up b-line to silfverberg there |
Okay, so I was just looking at our 23-man roster heading into the season and, I don't know why I didn't notice it before, but it really irked me when I noticed this. This is our 23-man roster:
We placed A. Biega, F. Corrado, and L. Vey on waivers today. Here's the problem ... Hutton doesn't need to clear waivers. Higgins is injured and can be placed on IR when the deadline passes. Placing Higgins on IR opens up a roster spot. We could've put Hutton in the minors on paper until game day (still kept him with the team), not put Corrado on waivers, and then put Hutton back on the roster when Higgins is placed on IR and played him on Wednesday. This would've given us 2-3 weeks (possibly longer if someone else gets hurt) to evaluate the young guys while not unnecessarily placing another prospect on waivers. Going to be so pissed if we lose Corrado and then end up sending one/both of McCann and Virtanen back to juniors this month. |
1040 brought that up with Linden today who basically said they understood it was an option but wanted to stick with the mantra that they would reward those who outperformed others. They didn't exercise the system, which probably isn't a great idea. However, I imagine the youngsters are aware, feel really good about it, and hopefully this confidence makes them play that much harder as a result. Not saying it was the right move, just looking for the silver lining lol |

The NHL acknowledges that more players are using cocaine based on drug test results. I thought that most of the coke heads in the league were LA Kings' players. :troll: NHL acknowledges more players using cocaine - Article - TSN An interesting but long article. |
