Flying with a Suit
 

Wouldn't mind some recommendations on what people have done when flying with their suit.

For work I typically fly wearing my suit. Going to Toronto for a wedding, but obviously not going to wear my suit on the flight as I will be spending a week there beforehand. Flying with WestJet.

Options I have are to
- Bring the suit in its suit-bag as a carry-on. Could get wrinkled if folded in the overhead bin.
- Pack the suit in a carry on bag (pants will be fine, could wrinkle the jacket if not folded properly).
- Pack the pants and wear the jacket with jeans on the flight?

Regardless of how you pack/transport it, if it get's wrinkled, just get it pressed in TO.

Do you have a garment bag or a suiter portion on your carry-on? Mine has this tri-fold garment section which helps minimizes wrinkles, but I still needed to steam up the suit by taking a hot shower with it to help remove some wrinkles.

Otherwise you could try getting the flight attendants to hang it in the suit closet if possible.

I always ask the FAs to hang it in the closet. Garment bag, suit case, nuclear bomb proof case - the suit will always have some wrinkles. If you can afford some wrinkles, just pack the pants and wear the jacket. Iron the pants when at hotel.

Check to see which airplane you are flying on. Some planes do not have a closet.

Don't throw it into the overhead bin unless you are sure it is not a full flight. Otherwise, you're pretty much screwed if you throw it up there.

Westjet doesn't have closets so that's out.

I might just try packing it gently. I've done the hot shower thing and it works pretty well. Worst comes to worst I can definitely get it pressed.

There are lots of videos on YouTube that show you how to pack a suit without it wrinkling. Unfortunately, none of them are 100% perfect, you'll still get wrinkles on them, but I'll usually pack it in my luggage and use the hot shower thing at the hotel while I hang my suit, shirts and pants inside.

i use a garment bag, but it's technically too big for carry on (as i'm flying for work, i fly business, so they don't care) - garment bags checked in get royally abused

otherwise, wear the jacket and pack the trousers (will be fine)

or pack both and get them pressed as recommended - pressing should cost <$20 and you'll look good
