iphones take longer to receive whatsapp msges?

Is it just me or...?

I use nexus 5 and whenever i send messages on whatsapp to iphone friends, it takes anywhere from a few minutes to 15-20 minutes to for it to become double check marked instead of 1. However android friends become double check marked instantly of almost instantly. Googled and found nothing.

maybe whoever you're talking to is ignoring your messages / swipes it away on their notification bar when they see it :troll:

Did a side by side msg test. Iphone is delayed in receiving whatsapp msges.

maybe whatsapp has 2 different servers for delivering msgs to iphone/android and are both handled differently.

I've found this too, not all iphones but sometimes they take forever to get doublecheck mark... strange

but i've found if you talk to them constantly the problem seems to go away... it's like they have to check their phone to receive the message or something

That suggests that the app on iOS may have an enforced longer idle time between the phone client side app and the whatsapp server when whatsapp is idle.

My guess is, Apple's more strict on client/server pings than Google is, probably to maintain a standard for battery life.

Yup. Don't even get me started on the shitshow that's iMessage.

Just send a SMS if it's time sensitive. Average time a text takes to go end to end is under 8 seconds. 9.5 times out of 10, if it didn't go through, it's user related. The SMS service is rarely down.
