Any problems with officers? :accepted:

Where can we get that?

fliptuner 07-10-2015 07:30 PM

not legal

swfk 07-10-2015 07:44 PM

I think you're better off not running a front plate than replicating one

LP700-4 07-10-2015 07:56 PM

Attracts more attention than if you didnt have one at all. Cop made friend rip it off on the spot + ticket aswell :lawl:

You should photocopy your driver license and show it in roadblock, it would be epic

Euro7r 07-10-2015 09:31 PM

What I don't get is why ppl don't like holes drilled into their bumpers for front plates, but people are okay drilling holes, say for a front lip lol.

XplicitLuder 07-10-2015 09:46 PM

i think what ppl dont like is the front plate itself, how big and ugly it is blocking the full view of the bumper

How about ear piercing vs a eyelid piercing

It's actually not a problem if it's certified. (you can get it done at ICBC)

I have a friend who forgets his wallet way too often simply made a certified copy to leave it on his car permanently; not that he has ever been ticketed, but for a peace of mind.

I don't fucking get it. Constantly people run around in circles to avoid running a front plate in the proper mounting location in a province that requires them, in a country, and continent, and world where most places require them. Just mount your fucking plate for fucks sakes.

Too bad side plates havent really picked up, I think they look much better than putting it right in the center of the car.

Agreed. Supercars in Europe etc all run front plates. If it bugs you that much, put on the towhook or something like that, cars can look good with front plates.

Additionally, I want cars to have a front plate so they can be identified in case of accident, from a distance etc.

iirc, I read somewhere that tow hook plate mounts are still illegal. Plates must be centered on a bumper, so that its visible from both sides. But I don't think cops have ever enforced it in BC.

Only things relating to plate installation in MVA are these:

Quote:

3.011 Number plates issued for a vehicle[...] must be attached

(a) one plate to the front and one plate to the rear of the vehicle, if 2 number plates are issued for a vehicle, and
(b) to the rear of the vehicle, if a single number plate is issued for a vehicle.

3.02 A number plate shall at all times be securely fastened in a horizontal position to the vehicle for which it is issued.
So as long as it's horizontal. Some legal ambiguity as it doesn't specify maximum allowable angle to horizontal. Towhook mounts usually have it around 10deg angle to the right hand side, so who knows how "horizontal" is interpreted.

I've gone through the police roadblock at the Market Crossing meet a while ago with my front plate zip tied onto my mr2 and way off-centered. They didn't seem to care as long as there's a plate. If there was a time or place to get hassled it would've been there haha

Ah I see. What I was told must have been for a different province/state then.

I've been running a tow-hook plate since 2007. It's perfectly legal. Also the kits should come with two sets of bolts -- one for mounting and one for plate alignment so no they are not crooked.

euromoron 07-12-2015 07:17 AM

Sure they look okay, but if you're going to get hassled as much as having no plate you might as well just not even bother. A towhook mount would probably be the best idea if you don't want to drill holes but most of the time those look worse (IMO) than having the plate in the centre.

Thanks for the reply guys! I don't have a problem with my front plate, I just wanted to see if there's another option to display it especially when my new bumper comes. I'll just mount it properly in the middle. :fuckyea:

if an evo x can allow side license plates, your cars can...legally right?

I find plates on the side terribly ugly and gives off an imbalanced look. If anything, it would stand out more than if it was just mounted in the middle.

If I had a Lexus, I wouldn't even think about not having a front plate. IMO, they're the only cars that legitimately look better with a front plate on so their stupid hourglass grill doesn't look ridiculous.

That actually looks worse since that big crash bar cover is the perfect place to mount it.

on turbo cars a lot of people do it so it doesn't block off the top half of the intercooler as well (assuming it's a front mount). to each their own, I prefer the plate centered too but if it's that versus not having to put 2 holes into the centre of your bumper, I think the choice is obvious
