Had the S3, Note 3, Note 4, and I will not be buying another samsung device. I'm just tired of dealing with samsung bloat and general battling with battery life unless i'm rooted and do a whole bunch of stuff to it. The phone is not fun at all stock. The galaxy and note series are staring to merge and it's hard to to even differenciate between the two anymore. There are cheaper chinese alternatives that now have very good build qualities (same materials as flagships+iphones) that actually update their software
Company phone. Gotta get the latest and greatest since I'm the mobile specialist for our team. Our developers also need to test software specifically on Samsung devices so even if I didn't order it for myself they would eventually request it.

That gold/chrome color looks pretty bad on the phone imo, the rear gets fingerprints like crazy. Looks kind of like a iphone/htc mix lol, slightly disappointing :/
Well I couldn't wait anymore as my s3 was dying and really needed to upgrade. Was a little disappointed that it only came in black for now (although black is my preferred choice) and only 32gb version at wind. Lack of expandable memory and removable battery concerns me, but not a deal breaker.
So far the device is super snappy and fast. No lag, and just uber smoothness as was expected. Friends that had the note 3 and 4 were surprised that it's actually not as wide yet has the same screen size. I've done basically nothing on it and it's already down to 1-1.3gig of free ram on average. Battery life so far seems Alright. Surfed a couple of hours on it and it's now 68%. My S3 had a 7000mah battery pack and so it feels like it drains faster for sure.
I was going to get the one plus two, but the speed tests on that showed it wasn't as fast as the note 5. I've played with the one plus one as well as a few xiaomi devices and just something about the way those scroll makes it feel less fluid. It will definately need a case as its extremely slippery and drop tests shows that it will shatter/break easily.
If you have a note 3/4, I say skip. If you have a 2-3 year old phone and was holding out, don't let the battery and SD card hold you back. I'm sure a phone shop can swap you a new battery when yours starts to crap out or most likely it's time for a new phone anyways.
Definitely feels better in the hands with the back being a bit curved unlike the note 4
used it for a full day now, and by nighttime battery was at around 39% with mainly whatsapp, a few minutes of gaming here and there. Hardcore gaming it would probably need at top up mid day, but so far pretty impressed.
One thing I noticed almost immediately was that I got better reception on the wind network as well as with Wifi. With the S3 in my room, there was a complete dead spot where my wifi would cut off. With the Note 5, I'm actually stable at 2 bars and is actually usable. I've also noticed that the temperature of the phone so far only gets luke warm even with my 3D MMO's over the wind network. With the S3 and notes 3+4, the phone would get hot like an iron playing my game through either wifi or data which could attest to the new exynos processor actually running cooler. Need to buy a case ASAP, this thing will not survive drops and its almost slipped a few times already.
I know this thread is for Note 5 but anyone considering the S6 edge+
I am debating between the note 5 and edge plus, I played with both and I still cant make up my mind. Im currently using the Note 4 but the edge looks really cool but is worth the extra $100?

i think they said the Edge+ was more towards media stuff and note 5 more practical office stuff (something like that) . ...im using a note 3 atm and not sure if i should upgrade. other members are saying not worth it.
The Note 5 is better to hold in the hands but the S6 Edge + is downright cool looking. Very happy with my 64GB Gold one. Super fast, great camera. Battery life is decent. Lasts me about 1 day.
Using a Note 3 right now.. won't be upgrading for sure.
Note 5 is so disappointing, no micro sd slot, smaller/non-removable battery (it doesn't matter how fast it can charge now..heavy users on the go would just swap in a new battery), USB 2.0. It seems like Samsung went backwards from the Note3/4, and this isn't going to help with their sales. With the premium price tag for this device, might as well get something else or even an iphone...

Pretty much. It does feel a little backwards but I think this is going to be theior new direction. It won't be any better over at Apple, it's practically the same thing but without the pen. If you still want removable battery and SD card, check out the Xiaomi phones. They're exactly what you're looking for and at the prices that most would like! I would have gotten the Rednote 2, but then it doesn't work on wind
xiao mi is innovative.............but sadly someone basics are still not yet up to par, i had a mi3 and freeze up on me time after time when i 1st got it..........& i dont even have a removable battery
china still has the 6+ but not the note 5 yet, still waiting till next month
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

I ended up getting the Note 5 today and I im so happy I spent the extra time to read and do my research on it I've had it since noon and I very impressed with the device and how it feels in my hands only think I really wish could be different is that the s pen be made out of metal instead of the plastic
holy smokes, I'm just reading and learning about this issue now. Yesterday at the metro samsung store, there was already a guy in the line up with this issue. They could havce avoided this by having the clicky part slightly wider than the hole and made it sit flush plug style. This was a total oversight on samsung. I'm not letting kids play with my phone, the stylus pen issue is no joke!
I am sure a third party stylus will solve this, but what a fucking fail like the iPhone and the whole holding it wrong shebang.
Yeah, I'll just be extra careful for now!

Well with the note 2-4 I believe the tip was much wider and wouldn't fit into the hole easily. It'a not about stupid, but more about how some kid playing with your phone may mess it up!

You're severely underestimating the stupidity level of the general population. Most people don't bother to learn how their device works, or how to operate it, save for the two or three things they actually use the device for.

You guys clearly don't understand the situation.
With the older notes, the stylus can only go in one way. With the Note 5, there is absolutely no resistance. This means the stylus can easily slide in normally or backwards. I tried it out at work today myself.
The way that Samsung wrote in the manual to not insert the stylus backwards clearly implies that they knew about the problem, but they probably went through with it since it was too late in production when it was discovered.
It's a design flaw at heart, and I wouldn't blame it entirely on the user as there are a many different ways you could potentially end up putting the stylus in backwards. Whether it be your kids playing with your phone or you dropping the stylus in bed and putting it back in the dark by accident.
