Will Transport Canada change the law for 15 year old rule for imports?

I know this has been talked about before but I hope this does not happen.. https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehicl...-index-448.htm

That review sounds like garbage, the environmental concerns are crap, the comparison to European crash tests is crap when most of the cars come from Japan, and IIRC that crash statistic was determined to be crap the last time it was brought up.

Even if they cut off importing, I don't think there are many cars that came out after 2001 that would be worth importing anyways.

I can see it changing sometime in the future as cars are becoming much more focused on safety and being clean. Just like how Air-Care is a thing of the past.

I'm not surprised that the government is concerned about the visibility of RHD vehicles and I'm honestly surprised that this is the first I'm hearing about their concern.

RHD cars isnt sold in big enough numbers to affect local climate.

...concern about RHD vehicles? there are government vehicles and municipal vehicles that are RHD...

Some garbage/recycling trucks
the CanadaPost mini-trucks
some delivery trucks
i think the street sweepers are RHD..

there are a boat load of RHD vehicles already here that are used by the same government that wants to ban public use of them.. why isn't canada post concerned about this as much as Transport canada is? why hasn't TC gone after them about using RHD?

it's just a bunch of sensationalist garbage haha.

tofu1413 07-30-2015 02:30 PM

only reason why the rumors were circulating around were because of the local retail principals.... :lawl:

In Japan, they do not have 15 year old law so you can virtually import any cars around the world, LHD or not.

They concluded that the accident risks had nothing to do with the position of steering wheel.
They used to believe that more powerful cars are dangerous but that had been proven wrong too.
It's all about the driver pretty much.
