I will probably still buy one, sell my passport on crackberry.com for about 325-350 USD = 423 CAD . 950 + tax = 1064 - 423 = 641.

I sold my Z30 for 400 before the passport , so the passport was like 370 for me.

Wow. I realize the hardware for this device is relatively expensive but they're pricing themselves out of the market. I can see this being the critical error that prevents their resurgence. I'll stick with my classic.

Spec wise , its on par with note 5 and s6 edge + , only thing samsung has is the better cpu

BlackBerry Priv vs. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ vs. Samsung Galaxy Note5 - GSMArena.com

Comparing the 3 , Priv has Hub+pkb (two of the most important things) + bb10 virtual keyboard + pure android + sd card + bigger battery + privacy/secruity .

Heck if i have 950 for a phone and had to choose 1 of the 3 , the logical thing for me would be the Priv.

Seems like the MSRP @ $949 is dead on. Retailers cost from Ingram for the Priv is $874.12

The difference between this thing and say, a Samsung flagship is that people will scrutinize this more heavily. ANY flaw found with it (even if it can be fixed via update, w/e), will draw people away from it, compounded with the $$$.

Samsung has positioned itself as one of the leaders in Android phones; this is BB's first one.
The success of Samsung's next phone doesn't decide if it'll continue making phones or not; it does for the BB.
Samsung doesn't need "hardcore" fans to keep it afloat; BB does, at the moment.

Seeing how Samsung (or any other established manufacturer that the priv. is going to be against) is outdoing BB, price and the "wow factor" were the only two things BB could have used effectively...and at $950 it's no longer there.

Considering BB is using this phone to determine whether or not they stay in the hardware game, they should have priced it very aggressively, so they get a firmer foothold, and then start building up - kinda like what OnePlus did/tried to do.

IMO. I still want the phone, but I don't know if I'll get it at 1 grand :/

Biggest gripe with android that i've been reading is that they do not get the updates fast enough , since google and blackberry teamed up to make this phone , it shouldn't be a problem.

Probably still wait until blackberry actually announces the price but shouldn't expect any differ..

I looked all the preorders from UK, NL.. taking away the VAT tax, it still converts to 818-950 CAD.

JC did mention it will be somewhat "affordable"
But imo the specs is worth the extra $$$$ plus the added bonus like the build in 32gb + expandable and 3400 battery

I want it, and I can understand where the price comes from, but I won't throw that kind of money at a phone.

$799 is actually not bad at all. Pretty much in line with most flagships.

Yay I was wrong! I knew they couldn't price it that much. Maybe on shopblackberry it will be cheaper, only 100 more than the passport!

Time to sell the passport, any takers?

Just spoke to telus, they said they are likely doing 350 on 2 year term.

They pulled the link and i think they screwed up the pricing cause no way they will sell any if robbers and bellus is selling under 800.

Haven't been a rogers customer in nearly 2 years, but I was still able to login to my account and get a PRIV reserved. I wonder what they'll say the day I come pick it up. LOL. Nothingto lose

Wind will be selling it for $799.

No doubt it's going to be a very nice phone. It's very solidly built and feels good in the hand, but it's still a niche product with a high price point.. RIM needs market share, and they're not going to get that with this.

I feel that this phone will be the last release from RIM. Similar to the HTC One A9 which I'm sure will be one of the last flagships from HTC.

$950 being thrown around again - apparently that's what it said on the BB store before it was taken down?

Do carriers sell unlocked phones at lower than MSRP?

BlackBerry Priv tipped to ship November 16, will cost $950 unlocked | MobileSyrup.com

No carriers do not usually sell phones under the MSRP, usually over. Passport launched from telus at 750 but shopblackberry at 699.

Rogers will be selling Priv at 799.99 but it will not be unlocked.

Telus and bell is likely selling at the same ball park.

Waiting to hear back from my Telus friend for the price, Nov 6 is when you can order from them.
