Just played with the dummy model of the Priv at Bell and was super surprised to see that it is only slightly bigger in every dimension than the Nexus 5x in real life. Keyboard buttons were larger than I had thought. Nice smooth matte like finish on the back and feels super solid although I have to play with a working unit to make my final judgement. I'd post pics but tapatalk won't let me upload pics for some reason. |
For what its worth, every carrier in Canada will be selling STV100-3 meaning it will NOT have wireless charging if anyone cares, this is confirmed 100% STV100-1 sold via Shopblackberry will have wireless charging |
Thanks for the heads up, didnt even know they will offer a wireless charging option. But $899...... |
Rogers pre orders should be ready tomorrow :P |
Lol beat me to it, reading it as we speak |
I'm having a hard time deciding between the nexus 6p and blackberry priv =/ |
Some of the reviews are pissing me off. So many haters, because it doesnt have usb c, wireless charging, no honeycomb, fingerprint scanner, etc makes it a bad phone. Which they think out weights the facts it has the same processor as the LG G4, expandable to 2TB, 3 gb ram, 3400 battery, and no BS Apps........ |
There is wireless charging, just depends what model they received |
read thru some of the reviews and wow lol, does sound like theres some hate or misconception of the phone.. i dont think i read one review where they hi lited about the curved screens use.. i think thats something cool and worth noting. |
The android central review was quite positive |
The trouble is that reviews are inherently subjective, and therefore will vary. However, considering this is a "hail-mary" from BB, it really can't afford any bad press...the gizmodo one was the worst one I've read so far. I've only been focusing on the keyboard part of the reviews, as that's the only thing that really differentiates this, and it seems it's not as comfortable as I'd hoped. I also don't know how it'll interact with other languages. For example, on swiftkey or samsung keyboards, you can swipe on spacebar to change keyboard language. How would I do this on the priv? ...and that price...:( |
^you could save $100 by getting the carrier version and foregoing the wireless charging and factory unlock . |
just take the reviews with a grain of salt. if the device piques your interest enough, just take it for a test drive. There's a 30-day return policy anyway |
|
Thanks blackberry , damn i bought a hardcase too maybe i should return it and get the flip ;p http://i.imgur.com/tQDvSRL.jpg |
From what i can say from the video, hardware business is here to stay thanks to the Priv. |
Went to Telus today, and they had a demo unit - it looks and feels pretty damn good. It's $890 outright from them, so doesn't make any sense not to order from BB directly, to get the wireless charging, etc. One question for anyone who has one, how is typing a different language working? How do you switch languages in PKB? On my OPO with swiftkey, I can swipe left/right to change keyboard language (VKB of course). How would this work on the priv? |
Played with the priv at the telus store and it exceeded my expectations. Such a beautiful device. Perfectly balance when slide or un slide. The os is clean and easy to navigate through. I can tell BlackBerry put a lot of work into this device. Im sold on this device, there was also a line up for the demo lol |
im sold on the phone, just gotta prioritize my $$$ before i get one haha |
^ Im also in the same shoe, why im waiting until christmas. I hoping for a $100 deduction haha. |
Any chance that Samsung manufactured this phone? |
Never thought id consider going back to BB but I'm on the verge of getting a new phone which up until this point has been hands down the note 5 but now i'm debating this phone hmmm |
